I looked all over ASRock's site but couldn't find any Z690 motherboards with flash bios in order to update the motherboard for 13th gen intel cpus. Are there any?
Hi, I bought an ASrock Z690M-ITX/AX recently for running an I5-13600KF. I am trying to do the flashback bios update to 9.03 for Raptor Lake support. The problem is I can't seem to get flashback to work, with any of the BIOS variants. I always rename the file to "CREATIVE.ROM" per the user guide and have tried a couple different configurations of device based off internet research.
I have attempted using:
Sandisk Cruzer Glide 32GB drive formatted to FAT32
Centon 4GB USB 2.0 drive formatted to FAT32
Same Centon drive but with only a 500MB FAT partition
I always get the same behavior where the LED will flash between green and yellow, eventually increasing in toggle rate. But it always ends with a solid green LED which appears to be a sign of failure. Without fixing this I can't use my new setup...
Edit:
Turns out the issue was not the flash drive, I suspect my very first flash attempt actually worked successfully. The riser cable in my Lian-Li A4-H2O is bad which was preventing GPU from outputting anything. I disassembled enough to plug GPU in directly and immediately was installing Windows.

I have a Z690 PG Velocita paired with an i5 13600k. My board had old enough firmware on it that it didn't support my CPU, so I've been trying to update it with the BIOS flashback feature.
I followed the steps in the manual, the file is named correctly, the USB is in the correct slot, I cleared the CMOS before flashing, I'm using a low capacity USB 2.0 drive, FAT32 formatting, literally everything I've found to do online.
The problem I'm having is that the flashback light starts blinking as expected, then after a minute or so, the board seems to just entirely stop doing anything. All the board lights turn off, buttons don't work, and the light on my USB stops flashing too. If I try booting the PC, Dr. Debug spits out numerous different error codes very quickly.
Anyone have ideas, or is it just dead?
As title says the manual doesnt state which is the port.
The online manual has no section at all, the printed manual explains what need to do, but doesnt specify which port is the bios flashback port.
If anyone knows which one it is, would appreciate it, thank you.
Ive not done the BIOS update for about 2 years on my Phantom Gaming 4/d5 mobo running on 16.02 beta. I decided to finally update to 18.01 (most current with all micro code fixes) but had a hard time updating. In the past when I updated i just saved to my ssd unzipped and as creative.rom and tried instant flash but it said no file. I then turned around and did everything to a fats32 usb drive but still said no files. Then moved the USB to mobo I/O but still saying no files. After those 3 failures I resorted to try flashback. After letting it do flashback it finally updated to 18.01 with no issues and I didn't do anything different. Has anyone else had a similar experience while updating the bios whether it be asrock or any other brand?
