r/ASUS on Reddit: Rapid blinking power LED on Asus Prime Z690-P WIFI
January 6, 2022 -

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone else has had the experience I have had...

I finally decided to build a new machine and have not been able to get it to boot yet. No matter what I try I get a rapidly blinking power LED.

Here is what I have:
- MOBO: Asus Prime Z690-P WIFI
- CPU: i7-12700K
- Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
- RAM: VENGEANCE 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 4800MHz C40 (CMK32GX5M2A4800C40)
- SSD: Samsung 970 Pro
- GPU: NVidia GTX 960

When I press the power button it appears to power on normally but I never get the BIOS post screen and monitor never turns on. The power LED starts flashing rapidly pretty much immediately. I tried swapping the RAM around all the possible slot combinations, tried removing it completely. I get beeps with memory error code with RAM completely removed. No beeps when the RAM is in. Tried 2 different GPU's. Checked and rechecked every connection. Removed and disconnected everything except the bare minimum and still get the same thing.

Any input appreciated.

Thanks.

Question - System works fine, but Asus Mobo Power light flashes at boot. (New build) | Tom's Hardware Forum
August 3, 2025 - According to ASUS, a quick flashing power light at power on indicates a memory issue. But the system works fine & I have run memory tests a number of times, with no issues found. I have run performance tests and the whole system, including mem, scores just where it should.

r/mffpc on Reddit: Why does the power LED keep blinking on AP201 once in a while?
October 30, 2023 -

I recently built my first PC with this beautiful PSU case. Everything is working fine. Except a minor issue.

The power LED (square white light with the power-on switch at the front panel) on the Asus AP201 PC case keeps blinking every other day (after a gap of say 24 hours or so). The PC doesn't hang or freeze and I am able to use it normally as the light blinks. The temperatures too are normal. The "problem" resolves itself once I restart the PC.

My PC serves as a server and I keep it running 24x7. I'm running Ubuntu on it with "Balanced" power settings.

Could you help me figure this out? Thanks.

[Edit - I opened the PC case and double checked the cables. Everything is fine. I'm not certain that this is an Ubuntu standby settings idiosyncrasy.]

ASUS Prime Z790-P power led blinking, no video output
June 10, 2023 - No problem. I had similar issues with my 13700k/Asus z790-p wifi/g.skill memory. Since I bought it at microcenter, I just exchanged the whole bundle of CPU, motherboard, and RAM. The lights blinking on your motherboard do mean something, look up Asus q-led core.

Red Light On GPU When PC Is Off? Why It Happens & How To Fix
July 16, 2024 - It occurs because the GPU maintains minimal power draw for standby functions even in a powered-down state. If the red light is blinking instead of solid, that could be a sign of a power delivery issue.
