Hey everyone,

Whenever I launch Claude Code, I see this red message:

✗ Auto-update failed · Try claude doctor or npm i -g u/anthropic-ai/claude-code

Thing is, Claude works perfectly fine for me , no crashes, no issues, everything runs smoothly.

So my question is:

Is this something I should fix right away?
Or is it safe to just ignore as long as everything is working?

Curious to hear if others see the same thing!

I've tried to update my claude code so that I can access sonnet 4.0, but it keeps showing '✓ Update installed · Restart to apply'. When I run claude -v it tells me version 1.0.5, but I am unable to run claude --model sonnet-4 as it says "--model is an unknown option". I've uninstalled and reinstalled - not quite sure what the best course of action is?

I got it every day, I can't remember when it started. Claude doctor does not work. I exit Claude code and do the upgrade from CLI.
