They don't let another bank pay off the balance, nor they don't let you transfer to the card. The former is more baffling than anything to be honest.

I spoke to a representative over chat and phone and they both told me that I can't make balance transfer to and/or from Apple Card. The most I could do is take my feedback and hopefully have this implemented (should've been day one, but whatever)

If you guys want to see balance transfer supported on the card, please message Apple (via the Wallet app) and give them feedback (along with the other missing features you might want)

Just got off the phone with a GS representative. What happens is that they do not accept an electronic balance transfer and require a paper check be mailed to them. More often than not the entity issuing the balance transfer is aware of this and does it for you after the electronic one fails. The representative I spoke to said the best bet is to call the issuing agency and either confirm a paper check was sent or request that one be sent. Address is Goldman Sachs Bank, Lockbox 6112, P.O. Edit: YES ITS POSSIBLE I DID IT. Even had a limit increase done.

Don’t do it. There are plenty of horror stories about it. The other card sends a check to Goldman Sachs but it never gets credited to your account. You’ll spend hours on end trying to sort it out while you now have minimum payments due on both cards. It can be a nightmare.

I just did a balance transfer to my American Airlines Citicard for a few things and they had an option to just direct deposit the amount in my checking account so I could pay down cards with cash. That may be an option on some balance transfer offers.

The process is pretty simple, you have to have a BT offer on your account, but you would select the offer you want, say how much you want to transfer, put in your account number for apple and verify everything is correct, then Discover will process it and send the payment to Goldman Sachs. this process is the same for all balance transfers i’m pretty sure. The only thing is from my time working in customer service I saw people say that while Discover sent the payments, Goldman Sachs then told them they don’t accept balance transfers, but then somehow accepted it? so idk if that was a misunderstanding but every time I saw goldman sachs on accounts it seemed to take a lot longer than most banks

Call in and have an agent walk you thru it.

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to managing credit and could use some advice.

I have a credit score of around 750, two credit cards with a combined $22k limit, utilization under 15%, no asset and about 5 years of credit history.

I have a couple of questions about balance transfers, specifically with Discover and similar cards:

Can you transfer funds from a Discover credit card directly to a checking account?
How often does Discover offer balance transfer promotions for existing cardholders?
Do other credit card issuers allow transfers from a credit card directly to a bank account like this?
Which Discover card is most likely to offer balance transfer promotions?

Yes, you can transfer it to your bank account, BUT Discover has 2 annoying limitations to this. It must be a checking account (not a savings account), and it must be the account you've used to pay your Discover bill most frequently over the past 12 months. Discover offers them fairly frequently. I cannot recall not seeing a balance transfer promo of some nature from them. Yes, all (most?) do. It's fairly common to allow you to transfer it to a checking (or savings) account, and no others have the limitations I outlined in #1. Citi is much more liberal/generous with their offers and terms, and I prefer them for these purposes. EDIT: sorry, I misread your #4. I only have the Discover It card, so I'm not sure how their other cards work. I cannot imagine they vary in this respect though. Leaving my original #4 as-is in case that is helpful.
