March 3, 2022Gap Barclay charged a strange $2 minimum charge
I just noticed this today too! I'm going to close this card! They have too many weird policies. I just called last month because they cancelled my autopay and then charged me a late fee for nonpayment. I asked what happened to my autopay and they said you have to use the card every 90 days or the autopay turns off. What in the world?!?! Bye Barclays! More on reddit.com

August 20, 2024Barclays Gap horrible and sleazy
Ive had a fraudulent experience with Barclays in the past as well and it took many hours to try and resolve it. They never did resolve it despite all the documentation i had and submitted to them via fax and post mail. I paid off the balance on my account amounting to $50, then closed it (as i no longer had any use for the card since i lost all my Frontier Miles for not keeping a balance on the card for 1 month) Then months later, i saw, via Credit Karma, that Barclays have been accruing interest on a false charge of $6.56. This charge was supposedly made on a date AFTER i closed the account. It affected my credit score for over 3 years. When i asked them to email me the statement for the month in which this charge supposedly occured, they said it wasnt in their system. But, ALL other months for that year and the year before was available and was faxed to me. I pointed this out on all my dispute documentation, but they never acknowlegded it. Derogatory remark on my credit report finally disappeared 8 months ago Barclays is scum! More on reddit.com

October 10, 2023Duplicate payment during Banana Republic credit card transition from Synchrony to Barclays
Sorry to hear about your issues. I put my Banana Synchrony card away in May and vowed not to use it until after the new Barclays replacement card was received and active. These transitions between banks are nothing to play with if you want to avoid frustration. Banana did a great job of communicating all the important dates, excellent actually. So, the smart move is to have any payments paid well in advance (at least one week before any hard line date, like June 16th should have been paid on 6/9 and any auto pmt setup should have been manually stopped) to avoid frustration. My Gap Card (and all Gap Inc cards— Old Navy, Banana Republic, Gap and Athleta) are due to transition from a Synchrony Visa card to a Barclays Mastercard card in the next 2 months. I’ve never gone through this— so I’m curious how this change will look on my credit report? Will there be a new trade line? Are there any other changes to keep an eye out for?

In general, I find this to be a pretty good app. My only issue with it, and the reason that I gave it four instead of five stars, is that when you pay your credit card, the current balance is not an option that you can select. So I pay my credit card multiple times per month to avoid debt. However, to pay my current balance, as opposed to the statement balance or the minimum payment, which are the only pre-filled options, I have to remember the balance and type it in in the other amount field.
