Something to think about - there are good options other than tile for a shower. A few years ago I gutted a 60’s bathroom and shower and went with a solid surface (sort of like Corian) material for the walls and shower pan. the product is called Onyx and it comes in a variety of colors and patterns. After dealing with one inch tile and grout, grout, grout in my former bathroom, it’s total joy to do a quick squeegee of the walls periodically and they are sparkling clean. To accompany my “no grout” bathroom I went with plank vinyl flooring. More on reddit.com

If you’re getting quality handmade tile and a skilled Installer you should definitely go for the tile that speaks to you! To be on the “safer” side though, you could consider a handmade green clay tile instead of a zellige. I feel these are more timeless and also easier to install. More on reddit.com
