A pedestal stand would use less material and could be customized to a taller height, so it seemed liked a way to go. February 12, 2013 - I’m in the middle of building my own wooden stand for my two grinders. I like your foot pad better than my idea (a thick sheet of plywood that would have rocked). However, I was uncertain of the final height I would want so I have my 4X4 main post (attached to the platform) sandwiched between two 2X4 (attached to the base). January 20, 2023 - One idea I've never "fleshed" out completely is having the grinder rotate vertically so one drops down out of the way when the other swings up. I have one mounted to a bench and one mounted to a pipe stand with a cement filled tire rim for the base.
