The V8 Absolute is what you want without a doubt. Not only does the V8 Absolute come with the hardwood (or non carpeted) floor attachment that works absolutely phenomenal, but it also comes with another attachment for upholstery and other services specifically made for animal fur. It lasts, on average, 20 minutes longer on full battery charge than the V8 Animal and you would end up paying as much for the V8 Absolute anyways by the time you were done ordering attachments for it. Exact reason I bought the Absolute over the Animal and would not even think about returning it as its the best vacuum I have ever used!

If you're looking for a cordless yes. It does a fantastic job of pulling up hair out of carpets and the canister is easy to clean and empty. That said, even with the great run time I would almost recommend you go with a standard corded vacuum (Dyson Animal) with a larger canister and no battery limitation. I can see you potentially emptying the canister often and risking needing a recharge on the battery (depending on the size of the house). We have a Dyson Animal upstairs for the carpeted area, and this cordless one downstairs where we have hardwood and a couple of area rugs.

I think it's reasonable to say that you see all of those types of posts on here because people generally do not pop onto a given forum to spontaneously share praise. I'm not going to defend some of the more egregious cases of things like poor customer support response that I've seen on here, but speaking as someone who owns two Dyson V15s and an older Ball Animal 2 - all three of which are still working well after about 4 years so far - I can at least recommend those models; namely the V15 series. V8 is a little dated now. I owned one in 2017 when I moved homes and wanted to try out Dyson and the suction on it compared to V11 and newer is significantly lesser. With Gen5 being their latest model (in the USA, at least), can you consider a V15? It's been manufactured for a number of years now, sold at several locations like Costco which offer a generous return policy, lots of official & third party parts are available and the suction is far better than V8. It's of course more expensive though.
