My 8 month old is getting to the limits of his infant car seat (we have the Uppababy Aria and love it), so we’re beginning the search for a convertible/toddler car seat 🥲.
From some quick research, the Uppababy Rove and Nuna Rava both look great but they’re very pricey. Plus there are so many options on the market that I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed. I like the idea of a rotating seat but have heard mixed things about safety and a seat that eventually converts to a booster also seems appealing.
Would love recommendations - especially for seats you’ve actually used and liked. Thanks!

Things we’re looking for:
- Rear-facing for as long as possible
- At least one cup holder
- Comfortable for the baby, especially for longer drives
- Ideally has the potential to easily switch between vehicles (happy to buy an extra base if needed - I think that’s how some of them work?)
- Good value for the price (doesn’t have to be the cheapest, just not luxury-priced for no reason)
- The car seat will primarily be used in a Kia Rondo, so want it to fit nicely

EDIT: thank you so much everyone for your super helpful comments! We’ve ended up going with the Britax Poplar - it had soo many recommendations and we were able to go look at it in a store and it seemed really nice and easy to install/uninstall for the odd time we need to move it to a different vehicle 😊

Convertible seats don't have bases, they are meant to remain in the vehicle and generally heavy and a pain to swap in and out. Graco extend2fit is highly recommended due to high RF limits (50 lb) and is one of the most compact convertible seats. It has cupholders. Between my 2 kids, I've got 3 convertible seats (Graco E2F, Britax boulevard, and Britax poplar). The Britax seats have a nicer harness tightening system and fabrics feel better than the E2F, but I bought an E2F for my 90th percentile son to keep him RF.

I am really happy with our Britax Poplar! It checks all your boxes including the super easy/quick installation with their ClickTight system. My daughter is very comfortable in it, the cushions are well padded and it’s overall a great seat. We also have a Graco 4ever and it’s nice too. Of the two, I prefer the Britax though!

I’m trying to decide on a convertible car seat and overwhelmed with the options. I’m looking for something that swivels/rotates and is fairly compact. My husband and I are both tall, and already with just the infant seat installed it’s a tight fit for my legs when I sit in the passenger seat.
Features that would be nice to have would be flame retardant free (was looking at the Nuna Revv but the height/weight limit is low) and easy to switch between cars.
Does what I’m looking for exist? I took the Safe in the Seat quiz and nothing pops up with all those features. When selecting for compact and swiveling seats, only the Graco Turn2Me was given as an option, however I’ve read conflicting reports on whether or not this is truly compact.
Any help would be much appreciated 😅
ETA: now I’m second guessing the swivel feature, is that truly worth it?

Swivel seats are nice for getting your kid in and out, but they’re not always great for saving space, especially rear-facing. If that’s a concern, skipping the swivel might be better. The Britax one’s a solid pick — not tiny, but fits well in smaller cars. It grows with your kid and the ClickTight install makes switching between cars it's super easy.

Most (all?) convertible seats aren’t going to be simple to switch easily switch between cars. If you have two vehicles, you probably need two car seats. We have the Evenflo 360 Revolve and like it a lot. That said, car seats are big these days, and with my husband being 6’4, we had to buy a new vehicle and had limited options as to what we could fit (now that we’re having a second and need a convertible and infant seat).
