Brooklinen makes some great sets, but quite a lot are returned cuz of shrinkage or the fabric getting scratchy over time (major ick) For cotton-linen blends, I’d recommend California Design Den or Sijo. Parachute has a nice relaxed look but can be high maintenance and tends to wrinkle heavily. Coyuchi is solid if you want something organic, but their king sizes tend to run a bit snug after a few washes. I’ve seen the most consistent feedback on California Design Den (linking it cuz its a little nicher ig). Its super soft out of the package and holds up well, full shade to brooklinen. All three are reasonably priced and feel higher-end than some of the bigger brand offerings in the same bracket. They also tend to last longer before you see pilling or thread fray. For washing, I usually suggest cold water, gentle detergent, and low tumble dry or hang dry if possible. Avoid fabric softeners or bleach both mess with the finish. If you like a crisper look, toss in a dryer ball or two to soften without chemicals Answer from BluwulfX on reddit.com

The 5 Best Duvet Covers of 2025 | Reviews by Wirecutter
September 12, 2025 - L.L.Bean’s 280-Thread-Count Pima Cotton Percale Duvet Cover, shown here in sunlight yellow with matching pillowcases, is smooth, cool, and durable. Marki Williams/NYT Wirecutter · The extra-long-staple pima cotton is strong, soft, and smooth, and it lasts for years; our oldest test sheets are from 2017. The ties and buttons are sturdy, and the pastel color choices feel soothing and a little bit beachy, like shaved ice on the boardwalk. I’ve tested two of these covers and many sets ...

Good quality duvet covers
The best I have is actually from Wilko which looks pretty good. Where do others get theirs from? Or do you look for a particular material/finish? ... I was only thinking yesterday how the quality of bedding has deteriorated so much recently. I bought a set from Dunelm a couple of weeks ago and it is really poor. The set I bought from Ikea is better quality but it annoys me as the sizing isn't particularly compatible with UK sized duvets... More on mumsnet.com

What makes a good duvet cover? What do you suggest?
I make my own because no commercially available one was just right. Its fun and easy and a great way to get started on a sewing machine. All straight seams, maybe curved corners, and a few tie-ups. I get used flat sheets at the thrift shop, cheap and you can feel the thread. More on reddit.com

[Request] Duvet recommendations?

I've had very good luck with The Company Store and L.L.Bean for both duvets and covers. (There are duvets and flannel covers in this house that have been around since the early 90s.) Ideally, wait for the January or spring sales.

But my new favorite duvet is one that comes in two layers -- you use a single layer for summer and then snap the two layers together for winter. Clever and economical! Mine is Woolrich, purchased online maybe six years ago.

Duvet and Duvet Covers
I see no problem with that strategy, honestly. The duvet cover often is the most expensive element in many instances. For example, I always recommend a linen canvas duvet cover since it's so damn durable and breathable out of all the fabric options available but it's insanely expensive ($500+ retail). This usually leaves little budget left over for a duvet insert for most people -- even when they find great deals at a few hundred dollars less from places like Ebay --- so it is not a new concept. I tend to also highly recommend silk inserts since they're great for hot sleepers and they are pretty reliable all-around (cheap ones to expensive ones). Hell, I have a cheap all-season silk insert from Costco (SilkHaven brand) that works really well for the price I paid for it, so buying budget-friendly duvet inserts sometimes is not a bad thing at all! The more expensive silk inserts tend to be either really nice outershell options or really high-end silk grades (6A) which raises the price quite a bit (but doesn't increase the breathability of the silk fill too much, overall). Overall, though, you'll probably do pretty well with a more average-priced insert as long as the filling material you're buying is breathable and decently durable. More on reddit.com

What is a Duvet Insert?
A duvet insert is a type of bedding that is used in cold weather for layering. It can be an alternative for a blanket and typically is placed within a decorative cover. Duvet inserts (sometimes referred to as comforters) are available in feather down or down alternative materials. Feathers or synthetic microfiber materials are sewn between layers of fabric to create a piece of bedding that is warm and plush. To learn more about bedding, view our essential bedding guide.

What is a Duvet Cover?
A duvet cover is a decorative piece of bedding that is used to protect a duvet insert. Traditionally, a duvet cover is made from cotton, linen or synthetic materials, and it is sewn on three sides with one side open to allow the duvet insert to be placed inside. Some duvet covers have interior fabric ties to secure the insert in place. Most have either a button or zipper closure to keep the insert or comforter clean. Duvet covers come in a wide range of colors and patterns to fit your personal style.

How to wash linen bedding?
You can machine wash linen sheets with like colors on a gentle cycle of cool water. Or hand wash the same way—just be sure to rinse all soap away in the end. Avoid hot water and strong detergents to preserve the softness of your linen fibers. Then line dry if possible, or use your dryer on a cool, low tumble dry setting.

r/Bedding on Reddit: What Duvet Cover do you recommend??
February 18, 2025 -

I am in the process of changing my bedding, and upgrading from a Queen to King. I went down the rabbit hole and got some sheet, mattress, pillow etc. Gosh, it was a very fun

Now I am trying to find a good duvet cover, do you all have recommendations? Budget is around 200-250, willing to spend a little more if the product is really great.

I got my duvet cover from pottery barn https://www.potterybarn.com/shop/bedding/duvet-covers-shams/ I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives, but at least everything from them seems to be good quality. I went with a 100% cotton one from the winter selection that went on clearance a while back and im pretty happy with it. [edit] they still have it, but not in the color that i bought it in. https://www.potterybarn.com/products/stewart-plaid-duvet-cover-shams-multi/ only white is left but not bad for 80$

Best Duvet Cover Sets: Which Ones to Buy? - Rough Linen
August 11, 2024 - The first thing you need to consider when selecting a duvet cover set is comfort and sleep quality. You want to choose a duvet cover that is breathable and will help regulate your body temperature throughout the night. Look for covers that are made of materials like cotton, linen, or bamboo, which are known for their breathability and cooling properties. Additionally, consider the weight of the duvet cover. If you tend to get hot while you sleep, a lightweight duvet cover may be the best option.
