r/Amsterdam on Reddit: Could you recommend an Italian restaurant that's got generous portions?
September 1, 2021 -

I've been to couple of Italian restaurants in the city (Momenti and Casa di David) and I liked the taste of the food in both. But as a big guy (195cm 90 kg) I'm curious if there are Italian restaurants that are less of a "fine dining" experience but still delicious and generous portions? Maybe the Italian equivalent is osteria or trattoria?

r/Netherlands on Reddit: Italian Food in the Netherlands
January 9, 2023 -

I am neither Italian, nor Dutch, but I am a big time foodie, and Italian cuisine is my go-to. When prepared properly, Italian food tends to leave a lasting impression on me. In general, I live to eat, and I am happy with my priorities.

With that said, I am looking for a way to determine, how good Italian restaurants in the Netherlands are. I prefer to not read reviews on Google, because most of them are given by non-Italians. For instance, I visited an Indian restaurant that was highly recommended by non-Indian colleagues, and the food was not at all authentic. My Indian colleagues absolutely did not approve of it, despite all the great reviews online.

Do Italian people in the NL have a separate rating system, or subreddit, or something like "Green Book of Italian Food in the Netherlands"? I know that Italians can be as picky as Indians when it comes to culinary perfection, so I know that I can rely on their opinions on something that is quite close to their hearts. If not, there might be an option to start a review system for Italian food by Italians...

P.S. I am not looking for restaurant recommendations. I am looking for a way to know if a restaurant is good (read, authentic taste), without looking at online reviews, that are mostly given by non-natives. For example, to find the best bitterballen or the most authentic Kaassouffle, I would totally rely on Google reviews, since most customers would be natives anyway.

So very odd question, but I was here in Amsterdam back in 2010. We ate at this Italian restaurant I believe was in the Centrum district. All I remember was that it was near a Ben & Jerrys and had a bathroom upstairs that had cow print wallpaper? I had the sun dried tomato pasta and it was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. PLEASE HELP ME FIND IT! 🥺

I just came back from a trip to Naples and I'm experiencing some major pizza withdrawals. What are the best Naples style pizza places in Amsterdam (or other NL cities, I'll travel for it)?

r/Amsterdam on Reddit: Store to buy Italian Food?
September 16, 2019 -

Wasn't sure what to put in the title, but anyway.

Just got back from a trip to Sicily and wanted to make some plates that uses Busiata as the pasta but can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can get some good selection of pasta? Ive checked a few stores around the Pijp area but can't find it anywhere!

Any help is appreciated!

Edit: I didn't communicate effectively: I'm looking to buy dry pasta so I Cane make dishes at home

r/Amsterdam on Reddit: Italian restaurant near Boom Chicago?
October 19, 2013 -

Alright, we're voluntarily subjecting ourselves and some family members to another night at Boom Chicago.

Prior to the show we'd like to eat Italian food -- good Italian food.

Any suggestions for good restaurants within reasonable walking distance? (Reasonable in this case would be 15 minutes tops)
