Green and yellow and orange are underrated. I'm kind of surprised how colored lights have become super common yet they're almost always purple and blue. Like, there's a whole rainbow out there! Answer from Emu_on_the_Loose on reddit.com

January 20, 2023 - Ideally you should be able to control the temperature of the light. Not sure if that's what you've been looking for, however it might work for you as well. You can visit product page using the share link and check other LED lights products which might be more appealing to you.

December 29, 2020 - I dont like LED lights. I think they're ugly ... I like normal lights as well, but not pure white a soft yellow/orange is great. ... rwd green and blue and then you can make any color (except brown of course, brown is just dark orange with context)

I have an application where I want to use a small led diode as an alert (flashes to alert you). This application is outdoor and will be used in sunlight. What is the best color diode for that. I'm thinking about using blue but not sure if that will be best.

Hi I like Led strips behind the tv, but i don't understand yet which colors are the best for don't strain the eyesight. Your opinion about it?

EDIT

Usually all LED strips are near 6500K because they are not too warm in their white preset, but more cold white. There are a lot of colors likeg reen,blue,red,orange,yellow,purple,pink.. Probably the stain depends even by the intensity of the LEDs (the brightness can be regulate).

r/Lighting on Reddit: Best LED Lights in 2025?

I want LED lights for my main room that work for both focus and relaxing. I want a bright white tone for work and a warmer look for evenings, plus some color for mood now and then.

My budget is around $150 for a starter setup. This could be bulbs, strips or a lamp, as long as they can dim and change color through an app.

There are many smart lighting systems with different apps, hubs and voice support. Reviews mention flicker, short lifespans and clunky apps, so I am unsure.

Update: After reading so many of comments here and digging through a few other subreddits too, I'm leaning towards the LED Night Light Galaxy Projector as it matched my budget, has ton of positive reviews and seems the safest pick. Thank you all for your recommendations!

r/led on Reddit: Best wall color for media room with color changing LED light strips
January 28, 2021 -

I have the Govee led light strips on the back of my tv which change colors based on what is on the screen using a camera pointed at the screen. They look awesome, but I notice the colors don’t feel exactly accurate and I suspect it is because the wall behind my tv is blue (a darker shade). So I’m thinking about repainting the wall.

Does anyone have a recommendation for good colors to paint the wall behind the tv? Typically people have recommended dark colors in media rooms like black or dark greys or other darker hues. I’d like to keep it dark instead of white (which I imagine white would show the optimal accurate colors of the leds) But would any other dark colors work well? Has anyone had a similar experience or any other recommendations?

I’m looking to (finally) get LED lights around the ceiling of my room. We measured and i’m going to need a 60 foot strip. I look everywhere online, on youtube but all I find are “guides” from scams or cheap companies, or when they are legit the reviews say they are trash. Also not looking to totally gut my wallet, a budget option would be nice. Not looking for much, LEDs that can get pretty bright and dim, a good white, and a good color range. Also want them to last long and not fall off. Any and all help is appreciated

I have been wondering what are the best led strips for my ceiling. I am going to do an cloudy sky on my ceiling with led strips and cotton. Philips hue is bit out of my price range. The leds should preferrably be 5 meters and should be able to be controlled via an app.

r/malelivingspace on Reddit: Color changing LEDs?
May 12, 2015 -

'Afternoon MLS. I recently got my first solo apartment and I'm considering lighting options for my living room/dining room space. I've been leaning pretty strongly towards getting some color changing LEDs to put around the perimeter of the room. I like having colored ambient light and having the option to go between color and white light is really appealing to me. Is there a way to do this tastefully? Things to avoid? Specific brands that are better or worse?

Philips Hue is what you want. The Hue Lightstrips aren't the cheapest option, but they're the best because they're so flexible in terms of utility. Control them from your smartphone. Control them from your tablet. Control them from your Mac or PC, or ifTTT, or even Siri, or write your own code since the Hue API is open. And you can add other Hue bulbs into your setup over time. I bought a Hue starter pack in spring of 2013. The longer I own it, the more I love it. One of my favorite features is the Geofence which turns my lights on automatically when I'm coming home if it's after sunset. It's so great walking into a lit apartment. Do you walk up to your TV to change the channel? Of course not. Well, Hue will make you think the same thing about turning on & off your lights. There are lots of other brands doing smart lighting, but in my opinion, the only system worth buying is Hue because it's so flexible. Don't take my word for it though. Do a search in the app store for apps that work with Hue, and then do the same for apps for other systems.

I agree with using Hue or a comparable home automation solution. We are using a Wink controller in our house and the potential is fantastic. If you want to avoid being tacky, a good rule of thumb is to always hide the light source. Don't put strips of LEDs around the perimeter of your room. Use lamps, with shades. Don't put LED strips behind your furniture or under your bed, it screams dorm room. You can use modern design, but lean toward traditional types of fixtures.
