Even though the DWARF 3 isn’t really designed for planetary photography, I decided to give it a try. I tested different settings and captured 200 frames each time. The best result (at least from last night) turned out to be:
-
Jupiter: 200× 1/60 sec, gain 0, astro filter
-
Moons: 200× 1/3 sec, gain 60, astro filter (I think a VIS filter might have worked even better here)
I processed the stacked images in Siril by removing the green noise (“Remove Green Noise”), saved them as PNGs, and then continued editing in GIMP. In detail, I took the image of Jupiter, added the moons as a separate layer, and essentially painted them back into the scene. I also reduced the brightness of the moons and enhanced Jupiter’s color, but I didn’t apply any additional sharpening or blurring afterward.
These are all steps that absolutely don’t require you to be a professional—anyone here can achieve the same results just as easily.

Brand new to this folks.
I got the moon and the Orion Nebula
But Jupiter is so briggg it’s always overexposed
Simple thing I can do better ?
Thanks
Greetings- Can anyone offer a good set of parameters for Jupiter and/or Saturn? I still remember seeing it for the first time with my young daughters (now late 30's). Thanks in advance!
Hey Everyone, just thought I'd post a few images from the Dwarf Mini since I realize there's not too many of them out in the wild right now. M42 and M31 were captured using the default settings (15 second exposures / 60 gain). M42 was done in EQ mode (about 45 minutes from Van Nuys). M31 was done in AZ mode (about an hour from downtown Halifax). The sun was 20 exposures. M42 was auto-processed within the app (using stellar studio). M31 image is unprocessed. Sun is unprocessed.
It would be interesting to see how you think these compare to other smart telescopes. I've posted a couple short videos on my YouTube channel regarding these, and I think Sunshine Nate is about to post a long video (that includes me capturing the M42 image below) so look out for those videos.
M42 (Orion Nebula) from somewhere near North Hollywood (used Sunshine Nate's Dwarf Mini) M31 (Should have used EQ mode, but wanted to test default settings) Dec 1st, 2025 Sun (20 exposures, the app did the work, I didn't manually tell it to stack them) Testing some daytime photography at Big Sur (still need to download the image from the Dwarf)
