Can anyone recommend battery operated (or rechargeable) motion sensor strip lights for my closet? I have overhead lighting but need more light behind hanging clothes. I donโt have outlets in the closet.
I tried some that had good ratings on Amazon but found they needed recharging every 2-3 weeks which is a pain.
Can anyone recommend a brand with longer life?
Thank you!! ๐ก
Pretty much the title. I could, hypothetically, hard wire them but I really prefer not to for a couple of reasons, unless the general consensus is that the battery operated LED lights are just truly not worth it.
My goals are to simply install the strip lights under and above the kitchen cabinets. Ideally, they would also be able to connect with my Google Home ecosystem.
Just wondering what the community thinks are the best options for this scenario.

Looking to find Led strips for a project Iโm working on but would really like for them to be cuttable, rechargeable (as in not connected to a wall outlet constantly), bright, and preferably color changing. Anyone got anything for me? Thanks!
I've been getting cheap strips off amazon every year for 3 years now. I'm ready to throw in good money because I am tired of the lights discoloring mere months after purchasing. I noticed the first spots in this set about a month in. And now, a year later, there is more discolored spots than normal spots. In the first pic, they should be purple. Second, they should be blue. And third, they should be pink. There are a few colors that are fine though, which would be true rgb green and a few of its adjacent shades. I have no idea anything about lights and how much a good set costs, but I am willing to put down some good money if it's worth it. Is there such a thing ?
I have a solid granite backsplash taking all the space between countertop and cabinets, and I really don't want to drill into my kitchen cabinets to wire lights.
Are there any smart LED lights that I could recharge weekly and then have them working 3-4 hours a day, turned on with either an automation shortcut or motion sensor ?
I'm looking for a batter powered LED strip that I can add one of those wifi adapters to. I have a really dark pantry that doesn't have an outlet in or near it so pluggable light strips are out of the question. I'm having a hard time finding anything that fits that description, so I've turned here. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I'm building a wall piece for my sister and I'm trying to find a set of strip LED lights to attach to the back to make it "glow". I'd prefer them to be battery powered so there's not some random wire coming from the piece. However, I'm having some trouble finding something and was wondering if anyone here knows where to look. This is the best I can find so far: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-5V-Battery-Operated-50-500CM-LED-Strip-Light-Waterproof-Hobby-Light-6-Colors/201398259583?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3Dea80555715ea472c8a82cef6c165f49e%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D21%26sd%3D171970337963.
Side question, some other reddit posters mentioned these strips only last for 15 minutes or so. If that's the case then I'll use a wired option, but I'm only looking for 3-4 feet anyway and some other locations are boasting 100+ hours with just 3 AA's. Any truth to one or the other?
You could get some stick-on copper foil tape and run 12V at low amperage up to the art piece. Mount some small terminal blocks at each end, then paint over the tape to make the wire disappear.
Battery life depends on current draw. The current that a set of LEDs draws depends on how many LEDs there are, how much current each LED draws, and the voltage you run them at. At 12V, one rgb 5050 LED draws about 60mA (white). A single color 5050, about 20mA. At 5V, they will draw less than half that, but be much dimmer. So, take your battery capacity (in mAH), divide by your total LED current (in mA), and multiply by 0.7 (for other losses) to get a rough estimate of on time.
I have been wondering what are the best led strips for my ceiling. I am going to do an cloudy sky on my ceiling with led strips and cotton. Philips hue is bit out of my price range. The leds should preferrably be 5 meters and should be able to be controlled via an app.
I want to install led strips under my bedroom bed to turn on as night light when motion will be detected at night
Currently own aqara t1 strip and happy with that but i dont want that many customisations for this leds
All i want is just warm white 2700-3000k and able to light them up when motion is detected
One way to do is smart plug which i already have and dumb leds(if know any with good price quality please recommend)
Other way is to use smart leds but couldnโt find any with only warm light and good price
First post, apologies for any wrong format...
I have been working on a DIY project involving a pre-built cabinet, and I've cut and painted my own wooden inserts to act as a display unit for some of my Hot Wheels collectibles. I am at the stage where I need some lighting for the unit, but unsure on which to use
I will need about 10 metres of continuous cable that is flexible enough to bend at almost 180 degrees to snake back on itself twice per shelf, and not cost me a fortune to buy. The cable can be one long continuous piece, or I am not opposed to having shorter pieces (about 40cm each) connected by wire, but I am aware these pieces would have to all be manually cut and wired which is not my strongpoint lol
I would really appreciate any advice and would be happy to provide pics or more info if needed
Hello, i am currently trying to find a good led strip that is less than $35 per 5m that i will be using to back light a bookshelf in a dark corner of a room. I am going to be running them through hassio. There are so many manufacturers and i am new to the world of led strips so i don't know how to tell good from bad and reviews on amazon don't help much. I would like it to be compatible with a nodemcu esp8266, individually addressable diodes, 12v, 60 leds per meter(unless you think that's not needed for my project) good reliability, (i dont want to have to replace them 6 months down the road and they will only be on for a max of 20 hours in a week.) I don't need them to come with a controller or a psu as i am figuring on sourcing that myself. (if you have any recommendations for a quality 12v 30a power supply thats not going to cause a fire in my house i would be greatful!) I'm not sure what other information would be good to put here so if you need extra info let me know. Can't wait to see everyone's recommendations! :D
Hey folks,
Any recommendations for LED light strips, that are dimmable, linkable, cuttable, rejoinable, have color and have memory?
I tried the eco smart 16.4 RGBW Color Changing, but the only thing they donโt have is memory.
Thanks in advance!
I'm currently working on a jacket with some LED lights in it, and I need a way to power them. I'm currently using some 12 volt batteries in a 3d printed housing, problem is, they can't be recharged, and buying lots of batteries costs lots of money.
if anyone here knows what I could use for my leds, please let me know. thanks in advance
For background, I'm very familiar with / invested in the Hue ecosystem. I have the bulbs throughout my house controlled by Alexa, and I think it's a fantastic product. However, I've never used the LED strips, nor any other LED strips, so this is a whole new area for me.
I'd never install any other products in the house for the sake of simplicity, but as I'm currently in the process of renovating / converting an outbuilding that will be used as a games room โI'm open to using other products if there is an argument for doing so. This is a project that has been literally years in the making, so I'm not looking to save money if Hue is the best option - but I want to make sure that there isn't a better alternative before going ahead with Hue just because it's what I'm familiar with.
Essentially, I need the best / brightest LED strips available which are Alexa compatible. I don't need any fancy effects as I much prefer solid colours, it's brightness that's key. The outbuilding is an open plan room with a pitched roof, and I plan on running a channel around the room at the point where the vertical walls meet the angled walls of the ceiling for LED strips to be installed for uplighting.
I'm converting the building because I collect pinball machines, so I can't have any normal bulbs or spotlights above them due to the reflection off the glass. The room is approx 8.5m x 4.5m, and the plan is to eventually have a line of machines down each 8.5m wall of the room, with a corridor of sorts down the middle. The LED strips won't be the only light source - I plan on having a few pendant lights with Hue filament bulbs down the centre 'corridor' of the room for atmosphere- but I like some ambient light when playing, so I need LED strips that can throw a decent amount of light upwards towards the pitched ceiling.
I've been doing some research and the three most recommended types of LED strip seem to be Hue, LIFX and GoVee. Given the above, and ignoring the cost, which should I go for?
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated - this is a total dream project that I've been waiting years to do, so I really want to get it right!
Hello LED Party People,
Need your help in reducing my stress levels.
Home prepped for tape lighting in multiple rooms. All connected to individual light switches. 3-pin cables. All cables meet up in the basement. So, PSU will go there and possibly the controllers?
Rooms and lengths are as below. All except Room 6 are just straight sections.Room 6 is stepped ceiling crown molding rectangular area. So, will need 4 corner right angle pieces.
Total 112.3 ft
i.e. 70" x 4 = means 4 separate sections of 70" straights. all connected to 1 light switch.
So, I've been reading and reading and reading. Searching and searching.. So tired.
I thought I wanted RGBIC, but then found out they can't be easily cut. I have no problem soldering.
Maybe kitchen could have IP67 but I'm OK with IP30.
Just to put this theoretical knowledge into perspective I picked up a 20ft Feit Smart Color Chasing Strip Light from Costco and it's pretty good. Can be extended to 40ft but that's it, they claim. It's got multiple light configs/scenes. It's Tunable White and brightness can be adjusted. Controlled via App or Remote. Can be adjusted for various colors at the same time. .. I don't even know which category this is under... Jeez.Yet, their portfolio is quite limited thus hunt for a product continues.
Shit, maybe I'm looking for seamless COB, PWI, ABC? DEF? None of the led's will be exposed. Should I still be getting a channel, diffuser??

Have Google Home, Alexa. Still playing around with Homekit, Homebridge and Home Assistant. Doesn't have to be integrated.
Either a remote or Phone app is Ok. Remote preferred so anyone in the household can use it easily.. Is there a remote that would go into a Decora light switch?? or at least that'd go in the switch cover?
Fully open concept kitchen and living room. Would be nice to have syncing capability, but not deal breaker. That is Room 1, 2, 3.
My understanding is for various reasons 24V is better. Yes/No/Why?
For sure, looking at Amazon, I came across BTF lighting. Even reached out to them, got a response but not to my satisfaction. Only this made sense: " We do not sell the SPI RGBCCT LED Strip.About RGBCCT LED Strip , there should be no sellers selling SPI RGBCCT LED Strip on Amazon platform, only PWM RGBCCT LED Strip without IC "
Moved in about a year ago, wires sitting exposed (unpowered)..
So, can someone please kindly spoon feed me what to buy? where to buy, how many to buy? Which controller, which PSU, how many Watts??. Which controller would be controlled by a remote? Which remote? OK with Ali X, Temu, Emu, Amazon, RadioShack.
I'll Venmo $20+ if that motivates anyone to help me out.
TIA!
I want to add some LED strip lights behind a large vintage picture frame I have (like one of the ornate gilt ones), but there's no outlet nearby, so it needs to be battery powered or rechargeable- but all the ones I can find have a super thick box that pushes the frame away from the wall. Does anyone know of one that's more low profile? Thank you!
So in 2021, I purchased a set of LED strips from a website called NoxuDesign.com. It was called the Noxu Iconica LED Strip. I was blown away when I got it. These are single handedly the greatest and coolest looking LED strips I have ever seen. They are bright, individually addressable, and it came with a wireless RF remote with over 330 types of color patterns. I became so obsessed with them, that a few months later, I went to purchase 2-3 more, and boom, the site is gone and has shut down. I've been desperate for years. I've gotten all of the traditional brands, industrial brands, no name brands, and nothing is even remotely close to how well these function and look.
I found the website on WayBackMachine with the exact listing I purchased. Here it is:

I have spent well over $700 looking high and low for something that can even come close to these RGB LED strips. I'm starting to lose my sanity because I have spent such a ridiculous amount of time searching for these, and a ton of money solely on LED strips. These LED strips have spoiled me to an insane degree.
If ANYONE has a lead on this and help me find these types of LEDS once again, I'll directly send you $50.
Thank you so much
