As the others suggest, Literally any Toyota, Honda, or Mazda SUV. They all have very solid used options around that price point if you're looking for something reliable. It's just a matter of how much car do you need, what features you want/don't want, safety, etc.

Price can vary with market so you'll have to check around but there is a chance your requirements will mean you compromise somewhere else. If you like the CX-5 you could also look at the RAV4 and CR-V. Larger would be the Highlander, Pilot/Passport. When I was car hunting I basically learned you either go much older and customize/repair with the extra money, or stretch the budget for something newer. The middle ground just doesn't exist as people hold on to cars longer. More on reddit.com

How big of an SUV? Was just in this boat and bought a 2010 CRV, 89k miles and fully loaded for 8k (with some minor damage to the rear bumper, albeit, but it's just cosmetic). If you can find a 2010-2011 CRV with under 100k, that would be a godlod way to go. I think earlier generation Venza's with around 100k would be killer also. More on reddit.com
