I'm assuming you're running a Windows domain with a Domain Controller. Go for Enterprise in that case and get directory integration against your existing Windows Domain. Answer from -P___ on reddit.com

r/Bitwarden on Reddit: Bitwarden teams vs enterprise confusion
April 4, 2025 -

Hi All

I am evaluating BW for 5 accounts for our IT team and it looks like enterprise is the only viable option, the teams plan looks like a marketing gimmick about creating a plan offering which no one wants so that everyone just buys the enterprise plan anyway. Its just there for a fake comparison to give us a illusion of choice lol.

What is the point of calling it "teams for business account" if it won't integrate with our existing entra id, or if it won't offer basic features like a global admin account that can go into all other accounts once a user leaves the org.

The teams plan also mentions "directory integration" but says no under "sso".

Also can someone breakdown the collections feature - does it mean a shared collection of logins which will show up for all users?

Hey there, and thanks for the discussion! We wouldn't offer the Teams plan unless there was demand for it, and there are many small teams using the Teams plan who don't require all the features of the Enterprise plan. Regarding directory sync/sso, here is a snippet from our FAQ : Q: Is SCIM the same as SSO? A: No. SSO uses the identity providers’ information to authenticate logging in, whereas SCIM allows specifically for user provision and management. Regarding collections, these are shared spaces to which you can grant access for specific groups or individual users, so only the team members that require access will see them. https://bitwarden.com/help/about-collections/ https://bitwarden.com/help/about-groups/ https://bitwarden.com/help/user-types-access-control/#permissions Don't hesitate to reach out to the official support team directly at https://bitwarden.com/help/ for any plan related questions.

The “teams” subscription is essentially the family plan on steroids, where the company can have many users and have limited control over the accounts. I do believe that Teams allows the company to regain access to an account if an individual leaves; it essentially implements Emergency Access for the admin users. As you have noted, many of the advanced features like SSO integration require the Enterprise subscription. “Collections” are a feature in your Organization where groups of users can share specific sets of secrets with one another: https://bitwarden.com/help/getting-started-organizations/

r/Bitwarden on Reddit: Team vs Family plans
August 1, 2021 -

Hi, I'm starting a business with 1 partner and we need to share certain logins, I'm wondering if it is only 2 people if we should pay for a family plan, instead of a teams plan and pay 2 members.

what are the main difference between them? I don't really need something really advanced, just an extension and a vault that give a secure way to store and share login details.

https://bitwarden.com/help/article/about-bitwarden-plans/#compare-the-plans Make sure you compare the plans via that link. This really has more to do with what might happen in the future. Do you expect to expand and grow and have more employees? Or do you expect it will just be the two of you for the foreseeable future? If you don’t need attachments or vault reports on the organization, you could get by with a free organization and just pay for two premium accounts for you and your partner. ($20/ yr) Or you could go for a family plan and that would leave some room for expansion (4 more people). ($40/yr) You probably don’t need a teams organization but if you go that way it will be easy to add more people if/when the time comes. ($72 / year) Teams and Enterprise have some additional features that family and free organizations don’t. Check out the link and RCourtney’s comment for more details.

Family and Teams are both Organizations, a way to share passwords between people. Family Plan: $3.33 per month for both of you (actually, for up to 6 users) Teams Plan: $3 per month for each user, if you bill it annually. So $6/month for both of you. Aside from being able to add 6 users with the Family plan for the same price, the main difference are that the Teams plan offers some extra business-use-case perks such as Event Logs , User Groups , API Access , and Directory Connector . Of those, the only one that would probably pertain to your situation is Event Logs, which just tells you when users of the Organization log on and use different passwords, as well as some other events. Since it is just the two of you, another option you can consider is just using the Free Organization which allows sharing between two users. If, at a later time, you need to add more users, or you decide some of the features from Family or Teams are something you would use, then you can upgrade your Organization to Family or Teams.
