Most wireless headphones will be Bluetooth, so you can connect a Bluetooth transmitter to the headphone jack on your receiver. You want the transmitter to support newer Bluetooth codecs like aptX-LL, LDAC, etc., depending on what your new headphones support. I suggest you select headphones first, because the most important factors are how they sound, how comfortable they are, etc. There should be no problem getting a compatible Bluetooth transmitter. Here are a few examples (not necessarily specific recommendations): https://www.amazon.com/B06-Plus-Bluetooth-Receiver-Streaming/dp/B078J3GTRK https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Transmitter-Wireless-Headphone-Speaker/dp/B0838YPSZT https://www.amazon.com/Swiitech-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Simultaneously-TR-01/dp/B09W22V8XJ You will probably also need an adapter cable from the 1/4 inch headphone jack on the receiver to the 1/8 inch input on the Bluetooth transmitter. Using a bluetooth transmitter with amp
They make them in wired, and bluetooth wireless. It sure would be nice not to have a cable coming off my head, I'm always sitting on the cable and yanking it. But I would need to run a bluetooth transmitter out of my headphone jack on my amp (an Orange Crush 20). More on guitartricks.com

1Mii has a ton of options at various price points that support various high quality codecs. FiiO also has some options if you want a more high-end audio brand. I would be sure to get a transmitter and receiver that support high quality low latency codecs (such as aptX Adaptive). I wouldn't worry about whether it has a 3.5mm connection or some other analog connection such as RCA. You don't need anything special to convert these as they are just standard analog audio connections. I personally avoid 3.5mm connections for most of my home audio as they're just not all that durable compared to almost any other audio plug. One other FYI: "Aux" is not a connector or cable type. It is simply the name of an input or output (usually input) that does not have a specific label (CD, tuner, tape, etc.). It can be a 3.5mm TRS connection, or it can be something else, like RCA (common for home audio), XLR (common for high-end home audio), or something else.

December 5, 2023 -

I have a 20-year old Hitachi 6160 receiver which is still going strong. It supports everything I need. I output from my 4K TV via optical-in for audio only, no need for 4K passthru. I have been watching shows streamed to the TV in 4K and output via the 1/4 inch headphone jack on the 6160. I bought a pair of Alessandro headphones from Grado Labs and have been very happy with audio over the last 15 years or so. DTS and DD are both mixed to Hitachi's Silent Cinema mode, which emulated multi-channel audio and works extremely well.

The headphones are reaching the end of their lives and are ready for a replacement. I would like to get wireless headphones, but the transmitter would need to plug into the 1/4 inch jack otherwise I can't use Silent Cinema. Some of the Bluetooth cans advertise that they have eliminated the audio delay inherent with BT solutions, but I am not particular. BT, RF, whatever works. Are there any headphones which meet this criteria?

Using a bluetooth transmitter with amp - Guitar Tricks Forum
February 27, 2021 - The issue is you will need an interface to pair the transmitter and the receiver on your headphones. I tried looking for something like this myself and always ran up against that problem. Boss has come out with the Waza-Air headphones but at $600 where I am, I don't really need them that bad. I didn't know about that. I thought all you had to do was pair the headphones with the bluetooth transmitter, and run any audio signal you want through the transmitter.

Before I start, let me first say that I know this subject has been raised before repeatedly without success and it hasn't been a good option because of audio quality & latency. The most recent post I can find was about a year ago though, so can we revisit the subject of headphone-to-bluetooh adaptors briefly?

Has anyone figured out a good setup for mixing via wireless headphones?

As a gamer who uses wireless headphones, I know that wired headphones have lower latency but the wireless headphones I game with have an amount of latency that I think would be fine to DJ with.
