No advantage. The wave music system has been around for years. The original connection that is used for the Bluetooth was called Boselink. Bose loves to reuse existing platforms or make adapters to prevent having to completely redesign and rebuild a system. So they took the easy way out and built an adapter, rather than redesign a new board and a new wave system that had long paid for itself in the past. It's a lazy solution. But it works. The Bose Wave System IV had an optional Bluetooth adapter available from Bose this purpose. There's one on eBay here , you may find it cheaper if you Google around. Otherwise any good Bluetooth receiver plugged into the aux jack, such as this one should do the trick. More on reddit.com

I hope so. They're not even worth it at $499 let alone $599. 2000's technology, no physical buttons, so you're a slave to the remote. You have to buy an FM antenna separately as well as a bluetooth adapter. Even then, the audio quality from the bluetooth adapter will sound mediocre on the system. I prefer the sound of the Home Speaker 500 better and that speaker is cheaper than the Wave at $379. More on reddit.com
