Just tried to buy a Canada Post prepaid Visa gift card at my local post office today and was told they'd been pulled off the shelves? The clerk tried to scan one of them she had put away in her drawer to see if it would work, but it returned an error. She said it had been a few months and they hadn't gotten any explanation or guidance.
Contacted web chat and told her this same story and asked for the reason. She kept skating around the issue and when I insisted, very politely I might add, she disconnected me. And of course, no possibility to rate the quality of my chat afterwards.
Still being advertised on the website. I always trusted buying those cards from CP, so I hope its temporary.
Would any of you know why?
EDIT: I had posted this yesterday on the "other sub" not knowing this one existed. I deleted it there and reposted here thinking it would be more conducive to getting an answer. If this is still considered crossposting, feel free to delete.
EDIT 2: Just tried my luck chatting at visa.ca where they also advertise their prepaid gift cards as still being available at Canada Post. Same stonewalling, agent threw up some copy/pasted blather as soon as I asked why they were not currently available for sale at CP. At least he didn't disconnect me afterwards.
My reloadable Visa card (operated by ZenWallet) has just expired, and it’s service is being discontinued completely next month. I was wondering which Reloadable prepaid card I should get to replace it since they are so MANY of them.
For those unaware of ZenWallet fees, these are the few tidbits I remember; Initial activation fee of $40-$50, Reloadable fee of $3, monthly fee of $3(?). Just in case you were wondering.
So I wanted to buy something from amazon, so I had to get credit card.Went to the store, got the card, all is fine so far..
Got home, tried purchasing it, and surprise surprise Nothing works. Amazon tells me to review the payment method.
I created an account on the slpcard.ca website.
Went to log in and..
SLPcard.ca doesn't let me log in, doesn't let me reset my password as it tells me to contact customer support, the forgot user number id tells me user id request could not be completed. I can't re-register the card as it says the user ID already exists, and it says I need to contact support.
Support doesn't help either as they tried to walk me through the registration which I had already done.
Overall a very frustrating experience.
As of now, the last thing that I think I could do would be to wait until tomorrow morning and call again..
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I could do?
**Update : All is resolved after a call in the morning
I’ll be visiting Canada on a tourist visa this year and currently do not have a credit card. I’ve been told that Canada is largely cashless so I was looking for options for a reloadable visa prepaid card that I can use while there, came across Canada Posts offerings.
My question is, is it available to me as a tourist? Can I just go in to a Canada Post and buy one and leave with a card?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
I just saw that Canada Post offers pre-paid credit cards, which sounds to me like a good substitute for using PayPal for online purchases. Has anyone tried them? Can you recommend them?
