$20/month max. Looking for lower cost but willing to pay more for reliability and security.

Mainly Canada. Would prefer to keep the hosting physically in Canada.

What kind of site are you hosting (Wordpress, phpBB, custom software, etc) or what is your use case?

Multiple Wordpress sites - currently 2, looking to add another, and may increase in the future.

Do you have a monthly traffic volume? Estimates are ok.

Very low. These are personal use sites only. I don't expect more than 50 unique users per month.

If you’re looking at VPSes: Do you have experience administrating linux servers and infrastructure?

Yes, I'm comfortable administrating Linux servers and VPS/Cloud infrastructure.

Did you read the sidebar/check out the hosts listed there? I've personally vetted these companies and their services are a good fit for 99% of people.

Have read, and I don't think there are any Canadian based hosting companies.

Running two Wordpress sites on Google Cloud on micro VMs with nginx and a local mariadb, and it's costing about $30/month right now. Looking to add a third site, and looking at options to reduce cost and simplify things.

I've been looking at various hosting sites. I'd like to keep all my data in Canada, so I've mainly been focused on providers that have a Canadian datacenter.

• I looked at HostPapa but found a lot of stories about them being aggressive on upgrading.

• I looked at FullHost but they seem pretty expensive, despite being Canadian based.

• I looked at WHC but there was a major data loss incident recently, so I don't feel comfortable going with them.

Other option I'm seriously considering is switching to using GCP Cloud Run, a Cloud SQL instance, and figuring out how to deploy Wordpress in Docker containers. Just not sure how easy it would be to manage and migrate the existing sites, but it would definitely be good practice.
