r/Banking on Reddit: Has anyone gotten their direct deposit yet via Capital One Bank? Let’s use this as main sounding board……
January 18, 2025 -

Has anyone gotten their direct deposit yet via Capital One Bank? Let’s use this as a main sounding board to let each other know when our deposits start to hit, or not. If one of us gets paid, then we can all have a heads up that we should all be receiving the direct deposits. If most of us get it but some do not, at least we have a way to communicate with each other to know something is still wrong.

We are stronger together than we are apart!

FYI: I did not receive my DD yet but I will jump on here to let y’all know when I get it.

Update: I just got my direct deposit. There is hope people - yours should be coming soon. I hope everybody got something out of his feed and I hoped it helped everybody get through this a little bit easier. God bless and remember most people are good people. All we have is each other on this planet. We are all human beings. Remember that the next time someone acts like an ass to you, they’re probably doing it because deep down inside they’re hurt or lonely or both. Always take the highroad!

r/Banking on Reddit: Capital One's System Wide Issue Affecting Direct Deposits and Payments
January 18, 2025 -

I got an email this morning outlining Capital One's tech issues since 1/15, right on Pay Day.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/17/business/capital-one-outage-direct-deposits/index.html

I consider Capital One as having one of the best banking techs, UIs and customer facing software, even though they have had various back end issues for a long time. Just look at some of the threads and forum talks from employees and managers who worked in its tech space.

You can mess up a lot of stuff and not suffer much for it, but you really can't mess with people's pay checks on pay day no less. It's like a reverse "Early Pay". I can't remember the last time this happened with another bank, certainly not on this scale.

This is a massive L for Capital One, imo. I still use them but switched most of my payments out of them earlier. I'd probably drop recommending them entirely. Will still need to check if I have any payments needing Capital One this month.

Added: As many have noted, the issue is with 3rd party vendor, FIS Global, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIS_(company), which services 20,000 clients. Even though other banks and credit unions are also affected, I'm not seeing such effects with larger institutions, which I imagine FIS also service. So what is Capital One doing or not doing that made them suffer this much disruption?

9:00 PM EST Friday 1/17/2025: It seems like direct deposits are hitting accounts. As they have a backlog to go through, it might take a while, but at least Capital One has the sense not to push it off until Tuesday. Definitely was not all done by 8PM or end of Friday, but it's something. Good luck, everyone. https://www.reddit.com/r/CapitalOne_/comments/1i3vr3o/700_pm_cst_update/

PSA announcement that everyone should always have a backup account somewhere so they could switch direct deposits and payments.

The vendor is FISGlobal. We should be bugging them. I'm not buying the power outage story. I mean, maybe 12 hours, a day at most. But if they have power, this should all get straightened out in minutes, not days.

At the bank where I work, I've been there on the front lines when things start blowing up like this. I used to work overnights until around dawn, supervising and managing the agents who were receiving inbound calls, and I could see the lines start blowing up around 6am when people started waking up, checking their accounts and something was not right. Watch those call queues jump from one or two minute wait times up to an hour, as the agents could not keep up with the angry customers. And then behind the scenes the techs trying to figure out what the hell happened. Did some patch on some system roll out overnight, and it broke something else when deployed to prod? Some backup data tape not load properly during the overnight update? (Yes, overnight batch updates still involved manually swapping out reel-to-reel magnetic tapes on decades-old mainframe systems.) It would jump from a severity level 1 issue to level 2 to level 3 in an hour, and you would have people on the tech conference call that were four, five, six levels higher than me on the org chart. Everyone scrambling to fix it as fast as possible, which usually involved a rollback which would take a couple hours, until suddenly the call queue dropped from thousands to hundreds to dozens as soon as the fix was implemented. Fun times, fun times. Lots of scrambling in the trenches when something like this happens. And it also separates the good banks from the bad in how they are able to triage the situation and fix it as soon as possible. Banks that have strong Continuity-Of-Business plans in place, and robust backup and double-checking processes can handle a disaster like this within hours at most; when a bank is underfunded or cuts corners or doesn't have the right staff, it can drag on all day or longer, as we are seeing with this issue. Customers love free bank accounts, and it's all great when everything is working smoothly - but when the shit hits the fan, that's when the customers learn you get what you pay for when it comes to bank accounts. That's the danger of "free" bank accounts.

r/CapitalOne_ on Reddit: Anyone have issues with direct deposit today?
August 31, 2023 -

I get paid on the 14th of every month, however, this Monday (the 14th) is a bank holiday so I was expecting to get paid before then. I spoke with my HR and payroll was submitted on Thursday afternoon. I woke up this morning to no incoming direct deposit, and I texted a few people I work with and they all got paid.

Are you guys having issues with capital one direct deposit? Or do you have any experience getting your direct deposit at a random time on Saturday or Sunday? I called customer service and they were no help.

I used to bank with Wells Fargo and never had any issues getting my direct deposit on time.

Thanks

Edit: got the deposit at 10:33 PST Saturday night

It would be nice if they posted some type of update given the length of time this issue has been occurring.. Are users still down?

I just reached out to them - sat on hold for over 30 minutes (waste of time) they are saying this will be resolved in a few hours and also sharing that there was no issue yesterday but seems unlikely, as usually my DP reflects in my account Wednesday at the latest I have seen 6PM CST. The person I spoke to told me that I needed to speak to my company (shifting blame it seems) but I work alongside the department that submits our payroll and know for sure, this is on Capital One. I have already opened a new bank account elsewhere for once this is resolved. very irresponsible to gamble people's money this way considering a lot of us are rely on the money we earn to survive..

Hi Everyone - Hope you're hanging in there. Really difficult to be calm while the money we work so hard for is missing with no indication of when it will become available. Similar to other comments here, I get paid bi-weekly on Thursdays (never on Fridays) and normally my paycheck is visible and available for use on Wednesday late afternoon / early evening. I've been patient, but I am starting to get anxious as my mortgage payment will be withdrawn and will now likely overdraw my account (or bounce). Not to mention other bills and expenses... Very disappointed with the lack of communication from Capital One. All of the updates I've received today have been from crowdsourced information (Twitter/X, Reddit, and some small news outlets). Really ridiculous that Capital One has not explained what is happening to their customers. I contacted the FDIC who directed me to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (800) 613-6743. They are responsible for regulation for certain banks and they monitor Capital One - You can file a complaint here: https://www.helpwithmybank.gov/file-a-complaint/index-file-a-complaint.html It's not an immediate fix, but it makes me feel better escalating the issue. This is 100% unacceptable. Hope we receive our money soon. Are there any banks that can be trusted - Should I go with a credit union moving forward? Stay safe friends <3

I just got off the phone with a capital one representative and all that was said was that there team is actively working on the problem and that there team has not given a specific ETA as to when the problem will be resolved the lady told me that she hopes that it will be resolved sooner rather than later and she apologized for the inconvenience.

2 weeks ago - Has anyone else experienced a delay in their direct deposit for early paycheck today (12/18)? I understand it’s not guaranteed, and I’m not looking for solutions or anything. I’m just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this today or if it is just me. I checked with my work and they said there weren’t delays, and my coworker said hers has posted already with her credit union. I called Capital One and I just got their standard response about early paydays not being guaranteed and nothing is showing as pending and to wait and call back if it hasn’t posted at the end of my scheduled payday, etc…

August 22, 2024 - The paycheck deposit finally came through a little over an hour ago. I'm hoping everyone else with issues, still, also gets their payment faster. ... Probably received their DD and left us hanging like C1 is. ... I hope Capital One didn’t get ‘em.

December 9, 2024 -

My paycheck didn’t arrive in my Capital One checking account on its normal day (today 02/19) once again. This happened on 12/24/24 and on 01/08/25. Capital One did not fix the issue. This is unacceptable, embarrassing, and damaging to my monthly finances and budget!!! So many people live paycheck to paycheck these days and have MANY transactions scheduled to debit on pay days. This ruins COUNTLESS relationships for me with other businesses and financial services that rely on my promise to pay by a certain date. Capital One needs to also compensate account holders for the penalties and late fees we’re getting from other businesses!!! Wtf! Where is my money?? 🤬🤬

If you like paychecks and getting paid, do not ever open a Capital One checking account.

Anyone else still having deposit issues? Because I should have got my money on Friday and I was patient and waited till Monday and they still don't have my money. Over five k missing. Last week I was told that they fixed it all and it wouldn't happen again and now I'm having the same problem on the week that I pay all my bills. And this was the bigger of the two deposits out of the two banks so, Is anyone else still having this problem? Because they guaranteed us they fixed this. And I never got a letter saying that they would pay for anything that went wrong even though I saw that from other people and I'm about to have a lot of bills I can't pay.

Still no deposit? : r/CapitalOne_
Did anyone get their direct deposit on Tuesday 12/30/25 or would it still come today 12/31/25? I’m asking because part of my paycheck from my employer hit in my other account (Cash App) last night 12/30/25. So I’m unsure if it’s just a capital one issue.
