Anyone know where you can get thicker/durable cargo shorts (opposed to what I refer to as the “swimsuit-like” thin shorts)?
I've been wearing cargo shorts for the past 6 years. How fucked am I?
An elevated "social image" isn't only determined by whether or not you wear cargo shorts. However, to improve your daily style, swap cargo shorts to chino shorts that hit above the knee, swap gaudy/tasteless graphic t-shirts to solid colored, well-fitting t-shirts (information on what "well fitting" means is located in the "How Clothes Should Fit" article in the sidebar). With regards to socks and shorts, either wear no-show socks or don't wear socks when doing non-athletic activities. For shoes, purchase minimalistic canvas or leather shoes in a light color such as off white Vans Authentics or white stan smiths. These items can be purchased from Target, Uniqlo, H&m, GAP, Banana Republic, or JCrew to name a few retailers. For more information and more advanced tips, refer to the guides in the sidebar. Keep in mind that fashion and "social image" are loosely correlated. Confidence, the way you carry yourself, social skills, hygiene, hobbies, and socioeconomic status are all contributing factors to how you are perceived by others. Switching from cargo shorts to chino shorts will not result in an instant social transformation. Clothes can increase confidence and self-esteem when equipped correctly, but they can also decrease the aforementioned when they are uncomfortable or inappropriate for the occasion. Good luck

Check out outdoor or activewear brands such as Columbia, The North Face, etc. The materials are typical made of polyester or synthetic that’s more forgiving than cotton.
