We had a Casper Wave Hybrid and found it to be too firm for us. Went with a Nest Alexander Signature Hybrid medium and have found it to be just right for us. Answer from mjrengaw on reddit.com

r/Mattress on Reddit: Nectar Lush vs. Casper Nova Hybrid vs. Something from Purple?
June 17, 2020 -

Hi! My husband and I are looking to replace our awful mattress. We both wake up with neck and lower back pain. He is ~210 lbs and I am ~155, and we're both side sleepers. We went to a couple stores and tried to narrow it down and liked both the Casper Nova Hybrid and the Nectar Lush. Those feel like a good balance between cost and comfort. We like something on the softer side (nothing too firm).

Does anyone have any input between these two? I'm also debating a Purple mattress, but wouldn't know which one would be good for us, as we didn't get to try one. I appreciate any input!

r/Mattress on Reddit: Nectar vs. Casper Labor Day Sales - Overwhelmed stomach sleeper
June 28, 2020 -

I'm on a shitty air mattress at the moment and my back is messed up from moving and sleeping on this thing. Prior to this, I've never had a good bed. I was sleeping on basically a brick provided by my dorm. The one at my parents' house is a century-old coconut coir mattress. So I have no real experience with mattresses.

I am overwhelmed with all the sales and what I really need to buy. At first, I was gonna buy a $200 Zinus mattress but saw on this sub that it's not that great. I think I can afford a better quality mattress given my income but would like to keep it as cheap as possible. I saw the Nectar and Casper sales and I'm not sure which one to pick and what to buy.

I want to buy a Queen mattress. I sleep on my stomach most of the time and also on my side. I almost never sleep on my back. I also get migraines. I'm not sure if this is relevant and if mattresses really help with that. I'm trying to prevent them with my weirdly shaped memory foam pillow.

Nectar: Queen mattress + Sheet set + Pillows (I already have 1 memory foam pillow) + Mattress protector + Foundation + Metal frame = 1,214 pre tax

Casper: Queen mattress + Mattress protector + Foundation + Metal frame = 1,179 pre tax

It looks like Nectar has the better sale because I don't have any bedsheets as well. I'll try talking to them to get an even better discount. I've read mixed reviews here and bad things about both. Is there any other option that's cheaper? I didn't think I'd go above $1,000 but could do it if it's worth it. I was naive in thinking that I could buy them all (mattress, frame, a pillow, bedsheets) for under $500.

I keep getting overwhelmed by all the reviews every day and just don't buy anything for the day. It's been about 3 weeks on this air mattress and I'm tired.

Mattress buying is stressing me out. I have found a seller that gets sold canceled mattresses/returns the company doesn't way to pay for/etc. so I can get a good deal on a lot of options. Here are the three I am looking at:

  • Nectar premier copper king - $500

  • casper snow king - $450

  • helix twilight or plus luxe king - $375 or $525

  • Purple restore premium king - $1400

I am 6'5 250 and my girlfriend is half of that. We both sleep on our backs or our sides primarily and sleep hot. I like soft and she likes firm so we normally have beds/toppers to give us a nice middle ground where we both are happy. I come in later to bed than she does some nights with work, so a bonus to not motion isolation.

Does anyone have any input that can help guide us to making the right decision? I appreciate any time and wisdom you can spare!

r/Mattress on Reddit: I've gone through 5 mattresses this year (Zinus, Nectar, Tuft and Needle, Casper, & Purple)... here are my thoughts
November 19, 2023 -

I'm searching for the perf mattress. Some stats about me. 6ft, stomach/side sleeper, prefer plush/soft. Here are my thoughts so far:

Zinus Amazon Mattress - terrible, way too hard/firm but some people who are into that that will like it. Makes a good guest mattress. Didn't smell at all.

Nectar - crappy company, sold me a queen mattress despite it being a full size once inflated. The mattress itself was good but sleeps hot and I always felt like I was about to fall off, the sides sagged way too much. It was comfy but ultimately not the "one".

Tuft and Needle Mint - probably my fav overall. Very strong smell when I unrolled it that refused to go away for at least a week but other than that is quite fantastic. Sleeps really warm but not a deal breaker. Their customer service was outstanding and was really easy with the returns. I'm actually thinking about going back to try the mint hybrid and calling it my final mattress.

Casper Wave Hybrid Snow - ridiculous that this is 3k but it is what is. By far the most disappointing and this is truly a case of overhyped marketing. Mattress itself is comfy but really nothing special. I got the snow edition but it doesn't keep me cool at all. The "cool" feeling only lasts a short amount of time but the mattress gets really hot afterwards. I sleep decently on it but nothing life changing. Def not sticking with it. No smell at least.

Purple Restore Premiere Hybrid - horrific delivery and the purple reps are not helpful at all. The whole delivery experience turned me off from the mattress as a whole. It's massive at 175lbs and it smelled slightly but not very much. The edges are awesome, I finally feel I won't fall off at night. The sleep is honestly excellent and I didn't have any issues with overheating. I'm currently testing it but I'm thinking i'll prob return since it was like 4k after taxes and I'm probably better off with something cheaper like the tuft and needle.

I'm in dire need of a new mattress and there's so many new, modern mattrress companies out there. All of them claim to be the best sleep ever. All of them have awards and testimonials. How do I go about choosing from these different options? How did you end up choosing?

I have a budget of about $1000 -- but I value my sleep and am willing to pay a little more for something worthwhile.

I understand that I'll probably be satisfied with most of these...but is there any way to differentiate between all the different options?

EDIT: I am 6'1" , 180lbs, and looking for a queen-size

r/Mattress on Reddit: First Time Mattress Buyer, Consider Purple, Nectar or Casper - Advice Needed!
March 16, 2021 -

I'm 26 [M] and have never bought a mattress before! I never knew it could be so stressful. I've always slept on whatever my parents bought and I've had the same generic, worn-out innerspring mattress since 2013. Getting my own place now and looking to go mattress shopping!

A little about me: I'm 5'9 and weigh 270lbs. My budget is around $2,000, though I'd like to spend less as I was planning on splurging on an adjustable base. I'm primarily a side sleeper but sleep on my stomach occasionally and I need a mattress that keeps cool because I sleep hot. I like memory foam but I'm concerned that it sleeps too hot.

I tried out the Purple at Mattress Firm and it was weird. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. Not bad, but not great either. I also tried a Nectar and it was pretty good. I haven't tried a Casper yet but I've spent weeks looking at reviews, comparisons, you name it! I am a little concerned with the reviews of Nectar and the company itself.

I was looking at the Nectar Premier Copper Memory Foam, the Purple, The Purple Hybrid or the Casper Hybrid. I was primarily looking at a bed-in-a-box just because it seems easier for shipping/moving purposes, but I'm open to anything!

Please, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!

r/sleep on Reddit: Nectar mattress Black Friday 2025 deals vs Casper vs Purple, which bed in a box is actually the best
September 6, 2025 -

My back is destroyed from my old spring mattress and I'm looking at bed in a box options. Nectar is the cheapest usually around 700 for a queen on sale, Casper is mid range at 900-1000, Purple is the expensive option at 1500+. Every review site ranks them differently and I'm convinced they're all getting paid to recommend whatever. Nectar's forever warranty sounds great but people say it's just marketing and the mattress breaks down in 3 years anyway. Casper used to be the hot brand but now everyone says they're overpriced for what you get. Purple has the weird grid thing that's either amazing or terrible depending who you ask. I sleep on my side and need something that won't hurt my shoulders but also I'm a hot sleeper so memory foam that traps heat is a no go.

Has anyone actually slept on Nectar long term and can vouch for durability? And do these bed in a box companies have real Black Friday discounts or just the same sales they run constantly with different names?

r/Mattress on Reddit: Nectar, Casper, Tufts and Needle, Purple, Lull, Dreamcloud, Thuma, Buffy, Zinus -- are these all the same?
December 2, 2019 -

I've been casually looking for a new mattress recently, so of course all my web ads have been mattress related. I feel every few days I come across a new ad from a new company that claims to have the "best" and "most comfortable" mattress.

There are 9 different companies in the question title. I'm rather doubtful that each of these companies had a stroke of ingenuity and created 9 new and unique products.

Are all these foam mattress companies the same? Is there really a difference? How would one go about choosing among these manufacturers (or maybe re-sellers is the better term).

How can a new mattress shopper separate the wheat from the chaff?

Thank you.

I've seen some sponsorships for a few on YouTube and I've had luck with the sponsored products. I currently have a queen bed, high density foam (I think, I bought it from a friend years ago and there isn't a tag), and I saw that was a key feature of them is memory foam and high density foam, I'm perfectly happy with that.

Hello Folks,

I'm in market in search for a firm mattress.

I currently use ikea Hesstun and I love it. However, I have heard it keeps getting softer as we use and eventually ends up loosing the firmness.

I'm moving to my own place where I need to purchase a new mattress. Confused on which one should I purchase.

I'm a side sleeper with curvy body. Looking for firm support mattress for side sleepers and budget friendly

All recommendation and help is highly appreciated.

Thank you

r/Mattress on Reddit: Nectar or Casper mattresses on IKEA slats?
March 2, 2020 -

Hi guys. I’m in the market and I might get nectar. I have a great bed frame from ikea that’s been sturdy and it has drawers underneath which is nice. It’s has curved wooden slats for support. Will a Nectar or Casper work well with this set up?

Thanks!

UPDATE: I went with Casper. After talking with so many people on here it looks like Nectar is a good mattress but their customer service sucks. Many reported waiting forever to get their mattress. Some saying it never came and they had to ask for reimbursement. As of now Nectar has a special where you get $300 worth of free stuff. And the mattress is 300 less than the Casper I got.

I decided I wanted my mattress now instead of saving $300 and stressing if it will come or not.

Casper was great. They had someone text chat me my questions. I ordered it and it got to my place in two days. Slept in it last night. It’s a solid mattress so far.

r/Mattress on Reddit: Tempur-pedic vs casper wave, puffy lux, nectar lush
September 10, 2019 -

Okay so I am SO tired mentally from spending hours reading/watching youtube videos on mattresses and physically from my damn hips and shoulders from this p.o.s. I am sleeping on. The extreme biased reviews on the internet make this decision difficult. I am trying to avoid with the common complaint of returning an online mattress. It sounds like a complete nightmare for every company. First of all, the tempur-pedic pro adapt or luxe adapt "soft" is my ideal mattress, I've seen apparent liquidators on the Facebook market place selling for a half of the cost but I don't know if I trust it. I just love that contouring/sinking in feeling. For whatever reason, it seems like I am the only one that likes that. Most of the reviews I see say "don't worry this mattress won't feel like you're sinking in. I don't want to feel like I'm on top of the mattress. Nonetheless, aside from already trying a tempur-pedic on since they are on display everywhere, I have also tried the nectar lush (mattress one has them on display now). I am curious on other's opinions on the casper wave. I have tried the original and it was way too firm. Everywhere I read however says the wave is extremely "soft." I feel like thats such a broad term. Furthermore, if there was anyone who had a puffy lux experience as well, I can't seem to find much on that mattress at all. Any input/recommendations would be appreciated. This is what I have it down to so far. Just hope I can get a response lol.

Update: bought the puffy lux. After a week I’m just getting non stop back pain. I’m 29 so not some old man complaining here. Don’t understand the reviews of soft, contouring, etc. online. This thing feels like a brick. Nonetheless puffy was offering a complimentary mattress topper, but I think I’m going to go with the lush, having tried a floor model that was new and not broken in and it was significantly softer.

December 1, 2019 - I went with Nectar but after a few months started getting tension headaches. Looked online and some people experience these from memory foam. Returned it ( no issues with return just took a month for someone to come) and my friend sold me his new Casper original hybrid for cheap since he was moving and I’ve had it for two weeks now.
