Is this tile from the Home Depot good?
It’s gonna be your generic brand cheap Home Depot tile. It’s far less superior than Daltile or Marazzi but it’ll do the job. That being said, I did my bathroom in the basement with Home Depot’s cheapest that looks similar to this and it’s holding up pretty well considering the occasional use. Been about 4 years now. If your concern is about the tile breaking and future cracks, buy an extra box or a few pieces and put it in your garage for when the time comes. Edit: I highly doubt it’s porcelain unless it’s on clearance. Porcelain is always double the price or more of regular ceramic. Edit: https://www.homedepot.com/p/MSI-Brillion-Aspen-Gris-12-in-x-24-in-Matte-Ceramic-Floor-and-Wall-Tile-2-sq-ft-Each-NHDBRIASPGR1224/319022009 Yea it’s ceramic. MSI isn’t a bad company either so I would go for it. More on reddit.com
Tile quality from home depot
Depends on the tile, they carry dozens of brands. For what it's worth, I've been very happy with my tile from them. Things to look at are slip resistance, material (you want porcelain, not ceramic), availability of matching bullnose tiles if you want to do coordinated trim, and tile thickness (at least 3/8" or 10mm for flooring). Two things I really appreciated about the big box store tiles were lower shipping costs (saved close to 30% on that alone) and easy returns for tiles damaged in transit (take them to the local store vs pay to ship them back). What types of finishes are available for 12x24 Ceramic Tile?
12x24 Ceramic Tile comes in various finishes. Glossy tiles are bright and reflective, but the slippery nature may not be suitable for wet areas like bathrooms. Matte surfaces have low reflection, and their anti-skid property makes them safe to use on floors. Iridescent tiles give a holographic impression and add an interesting decorative touch. Within 12x24 Ceramic Tile, we carry popular finishes such as Matte, Glossy, and Polished.

r/Tile on Reddit: Should I pay for tile/flooring store tiles vs Home Depot?
January 26, 2025 -
We are doing a big remodel, and the architect has suggested specific tiles. I've seen tiles that look fine at Home Depot for a fraction of the price. So I wonder if I am missing something? ... I don't want to be penny-wise and pound-foolish and end up saving on tiles to pay 4x more on installation or bad quality, but I also don't want to just pay extra if I don't know what I am paying for.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheap tile at Home Depot, Lowe’s or Floor and Decor is often (not always) much lower quality than the tile you find at a flooring store. Sometimes it’s actually a lower quality version of the same tile and other times it’s a cheaply made tile that simply looks like the original. What I mean by lower quality is that the tile may be significantly bowed, have massive discrepancies in size, have lots of chips, drips in the surface coat, irregularities in design, different shades between tiles, repeating patterns, etc. In the case of natural stones, you will often find cheap versions from China instead of quality products from Italy. Depending on the application, some of these issues may not be that big of a deal. A floor with an offset pattern using 12”x24” tiles, for example, is a good place to use a lower quality porcelain because you can more easily hide the flaws. Intricate mosaics or “artsy” tiles to be installed in a shower or backsplash, however, may have flaws that literally cannot be hidden, regardless of the skill level of your installer.
