Handyman in Chicago
I am in Milwaukee and not too interested in going down there, although I am down in Lincoln Park and the Gold Coast quite a bit working on my Daughter's place. So here is my suggestions. Go into, (or look on-line) in Home Depot. Ask about the HD Pro services. There are a number of "services" local pros can "purchase" referrals from with "points". Go in and ask for names of some carpenters that will do the work. HD will do the exterior doors with in-house "subs" or you can hire guys from the "HD Pro" site. They will call you and either quote you a price or do it time and materials. Expect to pay around $500-$1,000/day per guy, if they know what they are doing. Screen doors start at about $200/door to install and figure materials are $300 (or more depending upon the door selected). Bigger doors and ENTRY doors cost much more and usually need 2 guys. Trimming out doors costs more too. HD guys need to have $1M of liability insurance and pay $40/yr for a background check, but that does not mean they "KNOW" how to install anything. Talk to them and see. I have well over 100 reviews on the site. Some do not have any. I have been on the HD site for over 10 (??) years and still use it a bit, but it has limitations and usually has lower quality, new guys doing low bid stuff as older guys tend to be busy and spendy. Good luck, and always define the scope of work (what and how you want done) upfront Only pay as you go, and know the work was done right. Maybe 10% down and a % each week and the balance upon acceptance of work. Do not give 50% down at start of the job. If the guy is starving and can not buy materials upfront for a $5k job, maybe he is not the right guy for the job.... But if he does do the job and does it well, expect to pay, and pay well for it, as he/she has earned it. More on reddit.com

Lawn care price?
For a one time thing, MAYBE I'd give them a quote. I need $100-$120/hour whether I'm installing a furnace or playing Monopoly with the client's kids. Saying that, I highly doubt you'd be able to justify $100.00+/hour for weed-whacking. This, to me, is one thing that I tells potential clients: "You are better off calling a landscape company." Those guys employ unskilled laborers....they pay them shit...but the price is too good for the client to pass up. I mean, who can really fuck up 'weed-whacking'? A handyman is part of a skilled trade. I'm not going to lower my price to do 'unskilled work' like most clients would in cases like this. More on reddit.com

AccomplishedWar4420 , I'm still waiting on a reply for you to return the equipment you removed from my customer's house back in December. Please respond to my DM here or my text messages. Per our agreement and my paying you OVER what you quoted I would like my equipment back. More on reddit.com

The past two condos I lived in I was spoiled with onsite building engineers and maintenance. It was so nice! Now I own my own unit and it’s so annoying having to “find a person” for every job. Between trying to track down people, scheduling and making sure they’re credible and insured etc it’s becoming so stressful.
