This is a bit unbelievable.
ComEd switched up its website to pay your bill. This meant I wasn't signed in when I went to pay. In short, I saw there was a $1.75 "connivence fee" regardless of method of payment; in the past, there was no charge for paying directly with bank account.
The money wasn't issue. Being charged to pay my bill was. So I called and was told that since I was not logged in, I was "checking out as a guest," like I was buying something from Walmart's website. fwiw.
Edit: Worth pointing out that at no point does website tell you the additional fee is because you are not logged in; you must call for that information.
I just tried logging into my ComEd account for the first time since they switched account numbers and redesigned their site/bills.
And it's an absolute nightmare. I can't login into the desktop website or mobile app. And even if it does show me as logged in, I can’t access My Account, it just shows a white screen forever. No other options are available.
Is it just me?
I saw this notice on the ComEd website. The billing system will be changing.
Does anyone know whether I will still be able to pay by credit card? Will there be a surcharge for that?
