I miss old-school telephone handsets for their acoustics on the receiver, and “shielded” transmitter negating the need for background noise-reduction algorithms. I want to have phone calls on something other than the depression rectangle. I can’t comfortably downgrade to a dumbphone, because I need the depression rectangle for handlebar-mounted GPS (I bike everywhere in Minnesota with Google Maps/Ride With GPS), to pay for bus fare ($5 e-tickets on the app cover unlimited transit for 24 hours), and to Bluetooth control LED light gear for raves and parties.
I see a few iffy options on Amazon… Is there a Bluetooth handset you recommend from personal experience, or will I have to eat the cost and invest in a completely separate phone and phone plan to get what I want? Thank you in advance.

FIL is now alone and I am working on reconfiguring his internet/cable/phone service. Considering dropping the Spectrum VOIP landline, especially if I switch ISP to ATT and they charge $25/mo. He needs a cheap cell for backup if internet goes down. Currently testing out a Tracphone Samsung Galaxy AO3 (sp?).
If once the connection is made it is stable and will automatically reconnect if a power outage or something this might work. If the Bluetooth connection requires his intervention to reestablish periodically that would likely be beyond his capability.
Not sure if this is the right sub for this, however, I'm looking for a replacement cordless phone system for my parents that supports the following:
-
Bluetooth (to connect to cell)
-
HD audio (higher bandwidth codec for Bluetooth audio)
-
Multiple handsets (base + additional 2-4 handsets)
-
Ability for at least 2 or more handsets to join the same call when using Bluetooth/cellular (this is key)
Several Panasonic models seem to fit the bill, however, every HD audio model that I can find limits the number of units that can be in use during a Bluetooth/cellular call to ONE. Had a previous AT&T model that did not have this limitation, but it did not support HD voice and audio quality suffered. Does such a product exist with all the features above?
