On sale at costco.com for 1.14k all-in compared to 1,500 USD at the seller website (not including S&H).
I was in the market for a quality lounge chair. Particularly a fan of the Herman Miller Eames chair which this design is inspired by. Saw this and scooped 2.
Time to delivery from the order placement was 2 weeks. The 2nd week it sat at a local warehouse with CEVA, who is the shipper for Costco on this item. There was no option for pickup from the warehouse, which is frustrating, and the soonest appointment was Friday (today).
The shipping experience was, okay, but frustrated my item had to sit in a warehouse for a weel until my delivery appointment came up.
The product is packaged well with no signs of damage from shipping.
The product is covered in prop 65 warnings with that horrible sticker glue that leaves residue that's difficult to remove, and tears easy. So thats annoying.
Assembly was slightly confusing due to a lack of clarity on instruction.
We didn't make it three steps into assembly before we discovered a critical flaw. One of the 4 bolt holes for the back panel was completely missing. As in they hadnt drilled nor tapped it. It took 10 minutes of fishing around between my wife and I in the blind hole in the fabric, not believing such a critical step could've been missed in the manufacturing stage.
Well. It was.
Given the cost of this piece, I didnt have amazing expectations, but a gaff like this is... mind boggling. I would expect this kind of thing on furniture half this cost. Truthfully, I feel shouldnt have to spend 2-3 grand on a piece of furniture just to ensure QC is doing their job.
We have a replacement on order and already had a second chair on order prior to receiving this chair as well.
If it weren't for the deal, i wouldnt consider buying this chair at all. I prefer to try the showroom to make sure it feels good and im happy with the product. Given my experience here, my eagerness to purchase products from Eureka Ergonomics in the future is greatly diminished if done through costco, and not at all if without Costco to backup my purchase with their return policy.
Maybe im overreacting, but given my years experience working in manufacturing, gaffs like this escaping is mind boggling.
Buyer beware.
