May 22, 2012 - This is my first time in a cybersecurity role. The only reason i got the job was because of my degree and some electives I took because i was curious. How can i improve myself and actually learn? i know that learning on the Job will help. But i work at an organization that is really known for laying off people who are average. ... https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/us-cybersecurity-experts-plead-guilty-to-blackcat-alphv-ransomware-attacks/

r/cybersecurity on Reddit: What are the best places to go for cybersecurity news?
April 16, 2017 -

In my information security class, my professor told the whole class to go out and read news articles about cybersecurity issues. We will be spending the first 10 minutes of each class talking about interesting stuff we've read up on. Is there a good, centralized news outlet (similar to Google news) that pertains to cybersecurity issues?

Hey all! I'm a product manager who has found himself working across a few different cyber products over the past four years. One thing I've struggled with is improving my industry knowledge and keeping up to date with the ever changing landscape.

To help with this I set up a feedly account, with a bunch of feeds that I thought would be helpful.

  • Dark reading - cyber news

  • Hacker news - cyber news

  • Intruder intel - this one is a bit different, it's a feed that captures trending CVEs with commentary and insights from Intruder's security team

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: Thank you so much everyone for your suggestions on sites to check out and aggregators (I started using feedly)!

What are you guys doing to keep up to date on cybersecurity, new vulnerabilities etc.?

I watch LowLevel and Fireship on YouTube, because I like the daily updates in short videos to be up to date and read about it on my own if interested more. Are there any other YouTube channels that do the same, similar to Fireship/LowLevel?

Thanks! I appreciate every suggestion.

r/cybersecurity on Reddit: The Most Relevant and Current Cybersecurity News Headlines?
November 10, 2023 -

What would you recommend or suggest as the best source for the most current and relevant defensive Cybersecurity News? There are a number of them. Lately, I've been receiving securityweek.com in my inbox and reviewing those headlines. Krebs has always been my go to for more adversarial insight and information. I'm looking for latest zero day/vulnerability information, ransomware attacks, recent breach notifications. Would be nice to receive some of this information via a Slack alert if such exists. I"m a Director level.

Thank you!

I’m an early-stage startup founder building a platform focused on secure file transfers with end-to-end encryption. My CTO is deeply experienced in cybersecurity, but as someone who isn’t technical by nature, I’m eager to keep up and understand the space better.

With how fast things are changing, I’d love to know what sources, newsletters, or communities you recommend for staying informed and continuously learning.

Just like the title, what are your go-to websites to read cybersecurity news in 2023? I'm a newbie here so I'd love to hear your choices.

If you can point out what category your go-to websites belong to from the list below. That'd be great:

  • general news in the InfoSec space

  • threat reports

  • in depth research

  • career related stuff

  • security products/tech

  • vulnerabilities, breaches, etc.

Very timely and informative. They recently added a new CSO Perspectives segment that will be useful to you. Recorded Future - Great podcast that contains more business-oriented Cybersecurity news and interviews than some of the others. Hacking Humans - Weekly Cybersecurity News, from the same people who do the Cyberwire, focus on social engineering attacks. SANS Internet Stormcenter Daily Stormcast - GREAT 5 minute podcast released daily. High level, quick coverage, but doesn't have the story telling or detail that I usually prefer. Darknet Diaries - Narrative-based podcasts that spend a single or a few episodes to tell the stories about some of the most important or interesting hacks throughout history. Probably not as "useful" as some of the others, but very interesting storytelling. Malicious Life - Like, Darknet Diaries, this is a narrative-based podcasts that spend a single or a few episodes to tell the stories about some of the most important or interesting hacks throughout history. Again, probably not as "useful" as some of the others, but very interesting storytelling. Cyber Motherboard - Weekly Cybersecurity News and stories from Vice - has some cultural/political leanings, but covers very interesting stories. A few honorable mentions: Security Now Defensive Security Podcast Risky.Biz Down the Security Rabbithole

r/cybersecurity on Reddit: Any good cybersecurity news apps?
May 12, 2025 -

As a SOC analyst, I just prefer to have everything in one place but I am disappointed at the current market of cybersecurity news apps. Like, no one has put AI summaries in it or advanced filtering for CVEs, this is just sad. Does anyone happen to know any good app for this or I will have to find an alternative?

Edit*: thank you all for the help
