I hear a lot from friends about this new AI assistant that can take on and finish an entire software project which includes making a website. Hearing about this deeply discourages me and I just want to know what you guys think as you are all taking on the same journey of learning web development as me.

The large consensus that I see online from other people in tech is that Devin will be a tool to help software engineers be more efficient and productive instead of replacing them. It could potentially replace low-skilled engineers but not highly-skilled engineers I think. I saw a comment from Carlos, an admin in TOP's discord, that I thought I'd share with you all:

I only find all the talk about AI exhausting because new people come in every day asking if they should quit but they shouldn't because what AI is capable of doesn't mean it's pointless to learn. People being worried about AI tells me they don't know what the work of programming is and it tells me they don't yet know how to program. And that's not a dig. April 10, 2024 - Competitive Programming plays towards AI-based coders and their strengths (clear problem, expected inputs + outputs, and prior training data). Not saying it’s easy, but it’s not stunning the way it once was(try to run the problems in Gemini/GPT). But this is a demo, so maybe that isn’t the slam-dunk I’m pretending it is. Next, take a look at the prompts given to the bot. Andrew (demo guy) uses Devin to write tests for the code after he has debugged.
