opened a hysa with discover last week. attempted to add my local bank's routing & checking information on account creation, received an error saying that real-time authentication isn't available for that bank. okay np, i finished the account setup, logged into site, attempted to add bank again and the site kicked me out back to the login page. attempted to login, was told my account is locked. had to call discover customer service (no wait time and american workers, very friendly & helpful!), was told that my bank isn't on their list of participating banks for digital transfers and that i'd have to use my bank's website to transfer the money over or send them a paper check. seriously?
assuming i do the above which is a big inconvenience, how in the world do you move money out assuming i can get it over to them in the first place?
has anyone else experienced this kind of problem before? tempted to just close the account and try another bank (e.g., capital one, american express, etc.), but there's no way of knowing if i'll hit the same barrier again or not ahead of time.
the bank i'm trying to pull the money from is a north-east bank called m&t. i picked discover because they had a sign-up bonus of $200 if you move $25k over.
I opened a a high yield savings account with Discover about 3 weeks ago. Since opening the account, the website has given me nothing but trouble and left me with the inability to access my account. When I try to access my account I get a screen saying “there are a few more items we need you to complete…” then when I hit continue I get a “we were unable to complete your request” error message. I have called Discover numerous times over this and although everyone is always very nice I get no results. Tickets get submitted but I never hear back. They run me through the same troubleshooting things that never fix the issue (ex: try a new browser, clear your cache, etc).
It’s been over three weeks now and nothing has changed. No updates. No nothing. I’ve had a credit card with them forever and that part of the website is working fine but my savings account remains stuck in limbo and customer service has been useless. Where do I go from here?
