Dreamcloud and Nectar are the same company -- they're both part of Resident Home. They're also the same company as Awara and Level Sleep. They're known for poor customer service, "meh" quality mattresses and an abundance of online marketing -- including a large number of "mattress review" sites that they own/operate or just pay money to. So, I'm on the hunt for a new mattress. I've been researching brands for several days now, but I've found a lot of conflicting and/or potentially biased information. I've also looked at SLTD, but they don't have any information of OkiOki or DreamCloud. I'm dwelling between the following mattresses:

  • Purple Original - $1299 Queen

  • Nectar - $799 Queen

  • OkiEasy - $525 Queen

  • DreamCloud Hybrid - $999 Queen

Some additional information:
- Cost is a important factor for me - but not the only one. I don't care about brand name, so I'll most likely choose the cheaper brands if they can deliver quality that's close to more expensive brands.
- Side sleeper. Male, 6'3, 220lbs. Based on my research a Medium-Firm mattress is likely to be ideal.
- My preference is for hybrids because I like the comfort, but I also like a little bounce when, well... you know... Purple and Nectar are all foam (not hybrid), so I'm a bit unsure if it's going to impact this matter.

So I have been going down the mattress rabbit hole for like two weeks and I swear every site says something different. I am mainly stuck between DreamCloud and Nectar since they both keep popping up in every search I make. If anyone here has tried both, how do they actually compare in real life?

From what I can tell, DreamCloud looks a bit more lifted and kinda springy while Nectar seems more slow sinking and hug style. But I keep seeing mixed stuff about firmness, edge support, cooling and all that. I am a combo sleeper and I move around a lot, so I am trying not to pick something that I will hate in three nights.

If you own either one or slept on both at some point, can you drop your honest take? Stuff like how it feels after a few months, if it sleeps warm, if it sags, or if one is clearly better for back pain.

Thanks in advance. My brain is tired and my wallet is scared.

I am thinking of buying a new mattress but after reading most of the entries here, I kinda started to think that these two companies (which are actually a branch of the same one; nectar and dreamcloud) make their mattresses from cheap materials. Some say they had no support, some said it was so much plastic that 10000 gallons of water was used during a fire. some report sagging after a year. And most importantly some say avoid it at all costs since they do not have a nice customer service and do not follow the warranty rules as well as 365 day free returns. Also some do say it is perfect. I am confused

My question is this, my budget is incredibly tight (less than 1k). So support and a memory foam are a must. Since there is this November discount, I was considering these two brands. I thought it could be better than cheaper alternatives ones, since they sell the mattress, the bedding etc with 850 usd tax included for my state.

Do you think it would worth 800ish usd? I believe if I had a budget of 1.5k and there were no black friday discounts, I would definitely buy a tempur pedic but I cannot afford it now and 400 usd is really crucial bc cheapest tempur pedic is 1300usd w/o tax. what would you do if you were me? Do you think any of these terrible brands are okayish for 800usd? or still I should keep looking?

Thank you so so much! All the help and comments are much appreciated.

I started researching mattresses and obviously started seeing ads everywhere about mattresses . I stumbled upon nectar (via ad) and dream cloud ( via amex offer). I had never heard of either....

but the weird thing is the have the exact same offer (buy mattress and get free protector, sheet set and cooling pillow) and even have a counter for the sale, and they are in sync, except offset by 2 hours.

I did a google search of nectar vs dream cloud and it was all automated websites doing a "comparison" but it's very clear it's all automated and none of that is real people...

is the whole mattress industry like that? are they just wrapping in different packages and reselling the same product with many companies? (I've seen it in other industries)

As the title says, can’t imagine there’s much of a difference between all these online brands, but I keep seeing them recommended. I’m looking for a new mattress and not trying to spend $3k, more in the $800-$1000 range and these brands seem to be the best bet. I prefer hybrid over memory foam and usually sleep on my side so something a little softer is preferred.

Any other recommendations welcome.

Edit: I also sleep pretty hot, so also looking for whichever has better cooling.

r/BuyItForLife on Reddit: Purchasing a queen mattress for two, both side sleepers, budget is $1k - $1.8k, hybrid memory foam, deciding between DreamCloud, Nectar, or Ashley Furniture
July 14, 2024 -

My girlfriend and I are purchasing a queen mattress for the very first time, and we've finally narrowed down what we're looking for. Looking for something that can last us at least 8-10 years.

It seems like to get the gel memory foam cooling that we want, along with the right comfort, $1k is the minimum.

Help us decide which of these 3 mattresses makes the most sense?

  1. DreamCloud Premier Hybrid: seems to fit everything we want, about $1.4k for the mattress, bed frame and headboard, and taxes. Right amount of firmness and cooling.

  2. Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid: extremely similar to the DreamCloud, but about $2k total for the mattress, bed frame and headboard, and taxes. Above the budget I'm looking for so might be out on this one.

  3. Ashley Furniture Sleep Align Firm Gel Memory Foam Hybrid: this is the ONLY one that my girlfriend and I tried in-person, and we loved it. Extremely cool surface, perfect amount of firmness, but total cost for the mattress, frame, and taxes is about $1.8k, at the top of our budget. So about $400-$500 less than the DreamCloud mattress. Wondering if there's room to negotiate this down a bit?

Tried some other mattresses in-person like Sealy (much lower cost but the quality was also lower; cooling top was non-existent) and Purple (high cost, weird texture, kinda sucked), and we're leaning toward the Ashley option just because our experience was so nice with it.

Any red flags here? Does it make sense to go with the cheapest one, DreamCloud, and just be done with it, or shoot for the Ashley Furniture one, for the local store benefit and since we've actually tried it?

That's like comparing apples to oranges. Even though they're both manufactured by the same company, DreamCloud and Nectar mattresses are good in their own league.

If you're a fan of luxury hybrid mattresses with a medium-firm feel, a DreamCloud mattress might be good for you. Its pocketed coil support core will provide that extra bounce.

If you're on the heavier side or tend to sleep hot, DreamCloud might also be the best option for you.

What about the Nectar mattress? It's an all-foam memory foam mattress with average pressure relief and cooling. (They now have a hybrid alternative). It's a bit firmer than your average memory foam mattress though, which makes it an alternative for back and stomach sleepers looking for joint pain relief.

If you're a side sleeper, you might not find it as comfortable as other all-foam mattresses on the market. Also, if you're looking for that bouncy feel, you won't find it on the Nectar mattress either. It's all about contouring with Nectar.

They both offer 365-night trial and a forever warranty. That's cool.

IMO, neither of them is the best mattress or just some marketing hype. It's all about what you're looking for in a mattress and what's good for your body. They're both just decent mattresses.

You're looking for plushness and responsiveness? Grab a DreamCloud mattress. You want some contouring and firm support? Grab a Nectar mattress.

Take your time, lie down on them if you can at a friend’s or something, and let your body decide. They both have 3 different models available for you to choose from. So, you have plenty of options available to make a decision.

I think the Nectar mattress Reddit users are probably talking shit about all the time is the Nectar Mattress; not the Nectar Premier or the Nectar Premier Copper. Also, the DreamCloud mattress Reddit users usually complain the most about is the DreamCloud Mattress; not the DreamCloud Premier or the DreamCloud Premier Rest.

Like I always say, people enjoying their mattresses are probably too busy sleeping like a baby to complain on Reddit.

If you're going to buy one or the other, trust your gut on this one!

Thanks! I wanted to open a debate.

I slept on a DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress for a couple of months not too long ago. It was comfortable enough for me. So, I guess that If you want plush and luxury at an affordable price, the DreamCloud is the way to go.

But still, there are so many different opinions.

I also slept on a Nectar Premier Copper Mattress on mom's place and it was a little bit firmer, but still comfortable. However, this one's Nectar all-foam best seller. So, I think it should probably be Nectar's best mattress for side sleepers, instead of the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress? IDK

Always great to get your opinion!

Done a bit of research and am ordering a mattress this weekend. I've settled on these two brands as I like their return policy and it's a more reasonable price compared to other brands I've laid on and felt weren't all that special for the price. However I'm struggling between the two brands and the two styles.

I'm average height and weigh about 140 pounds. I sleep mainly in a combo of stomach and side, at times doing a weird mix of the two at the same time. Of these four mattresses, can anyone recommend which makes the most sense for my situation?

We recently made a huge mistake and bought a sealy tighttop 1000 coil mattress and it stiff as board. Awful. The worst part is going to return it we nicked the bottom and ripped it 😭.

Anyway enough of that, now i cant sleep on it for much longer so i need a mattress topper or a new bed . Im pregnant and my back is dying already from the plywood bed lol.

Is nector good? Are u a real person or a nectar employee 🤣🤣🤣 the reviews almost seem too good to be true whilst so much hate is out there?

ALSO, how long have u had your bed? Anyone here have it for 8+ years?

AALSOOOOO, does it have fiberglass? It seems like there is misleading info out there

Hi, real person here (who is also a nectar mod but not an official nectar employee). I can't say anything about nectar mattresses specifically, but I DO have a dreamcloud mattress and have had it for just shy of 3 years. Dreamcloud and Nectar are owned by the same company/are pretty much the same thing. Zero complaints about quality - there is no sagging so far. My husband and I use our adjustable base a lot and haven't noticed any permanent bends or folds either. Big fan of customer service - I had a question about the firmness of the mattress and they sent me a topper. I have the premier which is pretty firm but has a top layer of foam for more comfort. I've heard the luxe is softer. No fiberglass in dreamcloud or nectar. Google says their older mattresses did, but new models do not. As for reviews.... yeah, dreamcloud and Nectar both have mixed reviews, but mattresses are such a tricky thing to shop for. One group of people will think a mattress is the perfect firmness while another yells about it feeling like sleeping on concrete or something. I personally have had a fantastic experience across the board.

I’m not a Nectar employee. I’ll go ahead and get that out of the way- though I wish they’d shoot me some kind of kick back for how loud I am about how much I love my mattress. I’ve had it right at a month, so I’m still new, but it’s the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. I have the premiere hybrid. Back story info and relevant info: We had an old TempurPedic and now we have a luxe breeze in another bedroom. I prefer my Nectar all day all week all the time. I am 5’3/120 lbs side sleeper and almost all beds feel too firm. For me and my needs this bed is perfection. I know that lots of things factor in, but for me- I am sleeping better than I ever have. Customer service: I originally got the luxe hybrid and it arrived in a beaten up box and the coils were damaged and it just wasn’t great- it was also really tall. I called Nectar, they asked for pics, approved the return, came to pick it up- had my refund and then got this bed all within a week. They were fantastic to me. So, I recommend, but personal preference is just such a huge thing with mattresses. I hope you find a great one soon :)

Has anyone here tried both DreamCloud and Nectar? I’ve been comparing them for way too long and my brain’s fried. They’re both from the same company, right? But it seems like DreamCloud is supposed to be a bit more “luxury” while Nectar leans softer and cheaper. I’m mainly a side sleeper but sometimes end up on my back, so I’m trying to figure out which one actually feels better long-term.

I like the idea of a slightly firmer bed with some bounce, but I’ve also read people say DreamCloud can feel too firm or even stiff. Nectar sounds comfy but maybe too plush for my taste. If anyone’s owned either for over a year, how’s the comfort holding up? Any sagging or weird heat issues? Just trying to avoid dropping a ton of money and regretting it later.

So, need to pull the trigger on one of these tonight. Zinus is cheapest at 620$ after coupons, nectar is slightly more and Dreamcloud is the most expensive. My wife has requested a hybrid, medium firm, with cooling if possible. Trying to stay at or below 1,000$ for this. The problem is, I can't seem to find a good consensus between the three. All three apparently can use fiberglass so there's that. Is there a clear winner?

For what it's worth, we both tend to start sleep on our sides, we both toss and turn like we're in a fight while sleeping, and both of us are heavy- 250+ pds each. Amazon links for the second two since as far as I can tell it's the same item, and cheaper for the Nectar than the companies' site.

August 8, 2022 -

Well, I went to MattressFirm to check out some mattresses to see how some of them feel.

But MattressFirm only carry Sleepy's, Sealy, Nectar and TemperPedic.

I tried out all of them but Temper as that's over $2000 (my budget is around 1000 and under)

I tired the Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid they have and it feels pretty good, so does the Nectar Premier, however the Nectar they have is Full Foam, they don't have the Hybrid... (the Full Foam is a bit too soft, so I think Hybrid is still best)

(MattressFirm was also advertising their Free adjustable beds for labor day sale... not sure how good that bed is)

(I was thinking of getting that KD wood/slated bed foundation I mentioned in an earlier thread, but I also saw a lot of review that says Hybrids goes really well with adjustable beds)

.

I took a look at Amazon to check out Nectar Hybrid (and premier version) reviews and also saw Dreamcloud Hybrid, that's apparently made by same company as Nectar.

(and checked Sealy, but Sealy seems to have a lower customer rating on Amazon)

So... what's the exact differences between Dreamcloud Hybrid and Nectar Hybrids?

(a lot of things seems to be similar) (but Dreamcloud Premier is about $100 less)

.

Also, are there any other Hybrid beds around the same feel (Medium to Medium-Soft) around the same price range (900~1000-ish or less) that's better than Nectar or Dreamcloud?

When it comes to Nectar vs DreamCloud mattress, Reddit, both are good options. But, I'd fully go with the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress. The Nectar Premier Copper Mattress is a decent option if you're looking for a softer feel.

(DreamCloud's just generally firmer)

Between Nectar or DreamCloud, DreamCloud as I mentioned can be a bit firmer. Still it will manage to offer good pressure point relief and comfort without it feeling like you're sinking into the mattress; which apparently is what you're looking for.

Also, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress tends to be the firmer option compared to the Premier or Premier Rest.

They're both good for combination sleepers, so if you're all about that cloud-like feel, but with a more FIRM support, DreamCloud's the one.

DreamCloud vs Nectar, huh?

Both are made by Resident Home, so yes, lots of similarities. If you're a fan of that classic DreamCloud or Nectar feel, you might want to look into the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress as an alternative.

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress was designed with different layers of memory foam and other pressure-relieving materials for comfort and support.

It does hug your body but also keeps you aligned.

IMO, DreamCloud is the best option if you ask me to choose between Nectar or DreamCloud.

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress is a memory foam-based mattress and it leans more to the "responsive" side of things, providing a bit of bounce back. That makes it easier to move around in bed, which some people prefer.

The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress leans more toward the firmer side of medium, I'd say a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale, compared to Nectar's 5.5 out of 10. Also, if you're a fan of DreamCloud's luxury feel, for your budget, this mattress would be the best option.

A medium-firm mattress will provide you with the right balance of comfort and support.

So, if you liked the Sealy Posturepedic 12" Hybrid and the Nectar Premier Copper Mattress, put the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress on your radar.

Purchased a Nectar Premier Hybrid March 2024. Loved it at first but within a couple of months it started to sag. Wife got super sick over the holidays and was kind enough to sleep in the guest room so I was solo in bed for the first time. When I shifted from my typical spot to the middle it I was apparent how bad the indentations were (it took effort to roll uphill). We're not large people - she's 5'4, 130lbs & I'm 6'1, 190lbs. She has had 2 back surgeries so a supportive mattress is critical. We're looking for suggestions for a queen size, firm mattress that sleeps on the cool side. Price is not part of the equation. Would like to avoid memory foam if possible. TIA
