I've had very good luck with The Company Store and L.L.Bean for both duvets and covers. (There are duvets and flannel covers in this house that have been around since the early 90s.) Ideally, wait for the January or spring sales.
But my new favorite duvet is one that comes in two layers -- you use a single layer for summer and then snap the two layers together for winter. Clever and economical! Mine is Woolrich, purchased online maybe six years ago.

Random thought- but you can use a queen comforter. The extra size is really nice if there are 2 people, and it hangs nicely around the bed, especially if you store things underneath, it’ll hide the clutter.

You will have a little extra cover, but it works fine. You don't need to cut it. The sizes are so close that is why they use one size for both double or queen.

It's either or. Because the sizes are so close there isn't much point in selling both full and queen duvet sizes. So they just sell a full/queen. You use it the exact same way whether you have a queen sized bed or a full sized bed.
