It looks to have amazing AI for daytime tracking of fauna. It can be converted to an Equatorially mounted system. 3° FOV on the telephoto lens. Secondary wide angle lens. Cons: Small aperture. Tripod looks to me like an afterthought, and a wobbly afterthought at that. I've read (and seen in YouTube videos) people having frustrating experiences with the app disconnecting, doing random things etc etc. I was very tempted. But then I saw some of the astro pictures and videos of what people were getting with a Dwarf 2 and what they (and/or others) were getting with a Seestar s50 and the general user experience differences. And then realised the Seestar is absolutely portable enough for what I want, and carrying even a dwarf 2 for 5 days on a backpacking trip just in case the weather isn't terrible ain't gonna happen. And bought a Seestar. Edit/ should add, I wouldn't want to recommend a seestar yet, as it got delivered yesterday so will be raining for the next 2 weeks. More on reddit.com

Mini is focused on Astro functions only. It has limited to nearly nothing to offer for terrestrial based features. They purposely built it as an Astro only in mind travel companion Dwarf 3 is your jack of all trades. More on reddit.com

It really depends on what your expectations are. If I were to pick on one thing about these smart telescopes, it’d be the fact that they don’t polar align. They basically point roughly towards the pole, and then they take short exposures and de-rotate them, and stack them for you. They can’t take say a 30+ second exposure, because they’d suffer from field rotation in the live stacking process. For that reason, I consider these more EAA (electronically assisted astronomy). Is it cool for $500? Yeah as long as you don’t have crazy high expectations. From what I’ve seen I think the ZWO Seastar looks like the better product for the money. I’ll finish by saying this; if you get a used star tracker, any old canon dslr and a decent lens, you’ll be able to take much better photos than you’ll be able to with any of these smart telescopes. It’s going to take more effort, but that’s all part of the hobby. If you aren’t yelling at equipment in the cold at midnight, is it even astrophotography? More on reddit.com
