My Story: January 2004, I was bored and messing around on eBay motors placing low ball bids on cars I was day dreaming about buying. Well, apparently I clicked the Buy It Now button instead of bidding, on a 2003 Cobra convertible. OOPS The seller contacted me a few hours later. After talking with him I explained the situation, apologized and offered to pay the re-listing fee. He had the car listed with a buy it now price of $35K, I told him even though the car was exactly what I had wanted, unfortunately I couldn't come near that price, and the best I could do is come up with $25K. We talked for a bit more about the car and I could tell he was a car enthusiast, like me. At the end of the call he told me not to worry about the relisting fee and he wouldn't give me negative feedback (which was a major concern for me) About a week later I get an out of state call, and it's the seller. He asked me if I still want the car, confused, I said of course but I don't have the money. He's like, "well it's yours for $25K, if you want it". A million thoughts raced through my head, and after some hesitation, I yelled OMG yes. To make a long story short, I had a friend inspect the car (it was 6hrs away), ran a car fax, I got the bank to finance me, got the seller to deliver the car (I paid for his gas) all within a week. In the end I paid $25K for a 6 month old 2003 Mustang Cobra Convertible , with 3,200 miles, that had about $3K dollars in mods. I owned the car for just over 6 years and put on 33K miles on, I sold it for $22K because we were moving across the country. I still regret selling it :( TLDR; Bought a $35K+ car for $25K, read the story. There seem to be problems browsing by era or using the "Find Vehicles" tool. Use the "Tell us what you think" link on a search results page to report the issue to eBay. As a workaround, try searching the category using the category name as your search keywords. Nope, actually can't say that for vehicles! From eBay's nonbinding bid policy, which apparently I'm not allowed to link to: For motor vehicles and real estate, bids are considered non-binding. When you bid on an item in these categories, you're expressing a strong interest in buying the seller's item, but no formal purchase contract is created if you're the winning bidder.
