Is it worth getting an Epson ET-2850 over my current HP?

You do not want the ET-2850 for photos, its not a photo printer, does not use photo grade inks and your prints will fade rapidly. This fading is a very bad thing because photo paper is considerably more expensive than the inks. Look at the Canon Pixma G620 (A4) or Epson ET-8550 (A3) instead. More on reddit.com

Epson ET-2850

The 2850 prints at a max DPI of 4800x1200 I usually recommend the 2800 or the 8550 which both print at 5760x1440. Because the 8550 (or smaller, but for some reason more expensive 8500) are designed to be photo printers, they lay down color better (I however prefer my XP-15000 but it is cartridge based, not an ecotank) The higher the resolution the less dithering you’ll see. The color vibrancy also comes down to the media you are printing on. What are you printing? More on reddit.com
