More on reddit.comI know this is something MFA probably wouldn't be so intrigued by but I honestly think that flares can look very good on certain guys. Note that I'm not talking about 'cowboy style' bootcuts but actual flares. They have been popular in fashion in the past couple of years but predominantly for women only.
But you don't have to be a woman to rock flares. There are certain types of guys who are able to pull this off quite well and look good in them, trust me. It is more cooler and gives a unique touch over standard styles while also being both street-trendy and retro at the same time!
The catch net overall is quite small though (in my opinion) and I think say you'll need this sort of criteria:
You need to be slim/skinny, as this is where the flare is able to look good. Flares never look good on muscly or even average size builds on both genders.
You should be either tall or of medium height. If you're on the shorter side then it won't look so good I'm afraid.
Your body should have a suitable legs-to-torso ratio. Basically your legs should be long or at least of good length vs the torso length.
Some daring confidence! If you're someone that normally wears conventional or 'safe' clothing then this would probably be out of reach.
If you have the features shown above then there could be a good chance you can pull off a cool street look with flares. However, the trouble is shopping for one. You see there are basically very few if any flares that are actually sold for 'men' which means you'll have to be shopping for the women's. The problem is that because of genitalia differences between the sexes, there will be many bottoms that will not be suitable for us. Because as with many other bottoms for women, the main area above the legs (the rise, zipper, pockets etcc) tend to be quite small/short. And that would be VERY uncomfortable for us to wear as the tight crotch would crush our balls (literally!).
So I'll give some tips if you wanna shop for flares: you must buy physically in a store and try it out beforehand. Don't go buying online because there's no way of knowing if they're going to be comfortable. (there's a good chance they WON'T be!). I bought mine from Zara in Spain during a holiday and fits well but many others I wore didn't because of the tightness. Alternatively you can try manual custom made flares if you're creative.
Anyway I hope that helped to prove that flares CAN be a nice cool choice for guys!
