i’m a college student looking to get a new macbook. apple currently has a discount where you can get a brand new macbook for $900 with free airpods. i could do that or i could just get a macbook from best buy for $700 with some trade in value from my old macbook. it is worth $0 to apple though so i’d be paying almost full price if i got it straight from there. best buy would give me at least $130 for it though.
i don’t really do anything crazy on my computer, just browsing, watching tv, working, etc. having airpods would be nice but they’re not something i 100% need, but have been wanting for a while.
in the long run, is it more worth it to spend the extra money to get free airpods (i would probably use them a fair amount) or just save some money and get it from best buy?

Your Bluetooth connection is going to be bottlenecked by your MacBook’s Bluetooth 2.1 connection so connectivity isn’t going to be the best.
Edit: Might also be from not having MacOS Mojave’s newest update which added support for the 2nd Gen AirPods. Your MBP doesn’t meet the official system requirements (10.14.4+).
