I have small cabin with an 80 gallon propane tank and wifi. We use it sporadically during the winter. We removed the previous, ancient, propane heater and it gets pretty cold now.
I'd like to be able to heat the place with a propane heater that can be controlled remotely so that we can fire it up before we come up, so that it's not literally freezing cold when we get there. We also need to be able to just leave it off for months if we don't come up. Ideally, this would be some sort of wall mounted installation. This doesn't seem like it would be too difficult, but I've not found any solution that doesn't cost thousands of dollars.
What are my options for being able to do this? What items/terms should I be searching for?
So, it's (finally) starting to get a bit cold, and we've (finally) started staying in our 'house' as it's finished enough to live in now. Everything's going fine (despite financial institutions insisting that I am my little brother... which... has caused some issues with financing... but it's getting sorted, slowly...), but last night it was really damn cold in here!
We have a small 'Mr. Heater Buddy' which I borrowed from someone, and it works to heat the space enough, but I have two complaints about it:
Small propane bottle size. I know they have a nice hose accessory that I could use to run it off a bigger propane tank (which I could keep outside and just run the hose inside), but I have not bought one because of #2...
No thermostat control. I hate having to get off my ass to turn the thing up, or down.
And of course, given the company's discrepancy about if this heater is indoor safe, I'm a bit worried about just leaving it running full blast all night. There's a carbon monoxide alarm and all in here, yea, but still. :/
I'd like to just install something permanent or relatively permanent, but there's a bit of 'infrastructure' that I'd need to put in (piping, etc.) to put in a wall-mounted propane heater with thermostat, so I would like to avoid the expense and time that would take at the moment.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for a (fairly cheap? :P ) propane heater solution with a thermostat to supply some heat for a few months until this building is more finished out, at which point I'll have the mini split system with heat-pump installed so I won't need the propane heater most likely. (And if I do, I'll be installing something more permanent.)
