Canon R5 vs Fujifilm X-T4 Comparison Review
July 11, 2022 - Of the two cameras under consideration, the Canon R5 features a full frame sensor and the Fujifilm X-T4 an APS-C sensor. The sensor area in the X-T4 is 58 percent smaller. As a result of these sensor size differences, the cameras have a format ...

Canon R5/R6 vs X-T4
Reviews of the long anticipated second generation Canon full frame mirrorless cameras are emerging. The R5 has stellar performance, and a rumoured UK price of £4199, body only. The R6 is a 20mp camera, body only £2499. The R6 lacks the top screen, silent shutter and various video modes, has dual SD card slots as opposed to the R5's 1x SD + 1 x CF Express. Both have IBIS. My first impression is the Fuji X-T4 ... More on fujix-forum.com

Should I invest in X t4 instead of canon 5D?
Out of curiosity, why a 5D? Unless you already have a collection of EF glass you’d essentially be buying into a system that is only gonna see a drop in R&D resources. The new 1D and possible 5DV are essentially just pro bodies for working professionals that have all of their glass and don’t have time to promptly learn a new systems ergonomics. The upcoming R5 is the true spiritual successor to the 5D line, as it’ll actually have access to the new RF glass(as well as all EF glass) and has a lot of mirrorless exclusive features that are only available to DSLR bodies in sort of wonky gimmick methods like using mirror-up live view. I’d also highly doubt a 5DV getting IBIS like the R5. In terms of a a Fuji vs Canon comparison; it’s no different than it always is in that you have an option for Full Frame with canon and don’t with Fuji. Canons are typically a bit quicker to pick up in terms of ease of use. Both Fuji and Canon highly prioritize how important bitrate is for video unlike Sony. Having come from Canon(the 5D and R) to Fuji, I can say that I MUCH prefer the majority of XF glass to any EF glass at similar and even lower price points, but 15 years from now RF glass could very well be the system everyone looks up to in terms of first party glass. The best way to know which system you’ll enjoy most is to actually use those systems, so maybe just consider renting a 5DIV or EOS R. But to me it sounds like what may scratch your itch would be something like a future X-H2, so maybe hold off until there’s more news on that. More on reddit.com

IBIS Comparison: Sony FX3 vs Fujifilm X-T4 vs Canon R5
I purchased two FX3's a few months ago as a video-only upgrade to my Fujifilm X-T4's. I've always felt the FX3 IBIS was superior but really wanted to test them out side by side in a few situations I commonly find myself in. Honestly I'm surprised how well the Fuji kept up with the Sony and Canon! More on reddit.com

Lumix GH5 ii vs Fujifilm X-T4 vs Canon EOS R7
If you're really that new to videography, I'd do what was suggested to me in almost the same scenario. I'll preface this with the fact that I was super deadset on buying new and starting with the best, and it was super difficult for me to do the right thing.. but super was helpful. I wouldn't buy a new camera if you're on a limited budget and you're hoping to start doing work with just that $2,000. Unless you have a separate budget for other things. Basic reasons why: a) You're going to have no idea what you're doing. It's better to learn with something still great/but older gen/cheaper so you can actually figure out what is important to you and in the future upgrade in the better direction. If you don't know the difference between what you'd want out of an R7 or GH5 or X-T4, it really should be a red flag in some ways that you're not ready for them. I desperately thought I needed a GH5, and read all the things and said "wow this is great I need XYZ feature like internal stabilization how could i ever use one without it" then ended up buying a used GH4 (which doesn't have stabilization) and realized I absolutely was better off learning WHY and WHERE I need stabilization by not having it on my camera and learning other important things to helping stable shots before having a cheat code. Simple speaking you just don't have any idea where your needs will be with a camera as a new videographer, and you're future proofing for types of shots you aren't ready or capable of doing. & b) You're going to spend more money than you can imagine for gear that will be absolutely non-negotiable for anything videography. Videography is expensive. I thought my camera was going to be the biggest bulk of my cost. Wrong! I have had to spend more than just my camera's value on tons of stuff to make basic shots look ALRIGHT. Stuff like lighting, tripocs, cages, recorders, audio, all cost insane amounts of money to get anything that will function reliable in a professional setting. A tripod alone can cost you $600-800, or a single key light. Even if you go cheap on everything, you at bare minimum will end up spending $500-1000 bucks just to be moderately prepared. Like.. do you ever want to shoot in the daylight? Better get yourself a filter or good luck getting good range. Of course you can rent some stuff, which is normal maybe for a key light or something, but still it all costs money. Money which you might be putting only into a camera/body, which you're better off getting used at a good discount, and using the rest to buy important accessories. Also, once you start shooting huge footage? Guess what bubba, you're gonna need a strong computer to run it, and aside from that? Storage space which will cost you MORE money. I shoot for an hour with 422 footage and end up with literally 300gb of files ungraded. The nice thing is usually if you're dealing with a used decent camera, you are often getting it from another enthusiast or videographer whose upgraded. (what I did) Which usually means they've taken good care of it, and sometimes will give you tips on it's use, have already messed with settings to achieve best results with that body, or it might come with extra batteries/accessories. All stuff that adds up. Like I mentioned, I got a GH4 with 2 lenses and 3 batteries for around $500 instead of paying $1,700 at the time for a GH5, which allowed me to spend money on an extra lens (also used, $900 lumix for $250), lighting, storage, tripod, etc. and still came under what I wanted to spend on a camera alone. And for the next 2-3 years continuously found week after week new things that I needed to buy to make basic shots or my cage/equipment work, and am thankful still to this day I didn't buy a GH5. I now also know for example, what is important for me in a camera, like the Auto-focus on Panasonic's suck so it makes it hard to self shoot, and the limited MFT lens selection is a con, and in the future will upgrade away from Panasonic. But I still to this day use my GH4 as my primary, still learn new things, and it's still not being used to 100% effectiveness I am sure. A GH5 would've been wasted on me. More on reddit.com

r/fujifilm on Reddit: Should I invest in X t4 instead of canon 5D?
February 28, 2020 -

So i been using fuji X T2 for few years now. I absolutely love this camera and its size. But for the past few months i am planning to invest in second camera. Although i love fuji but the lack of ibis and the diverse range of lens has always been my issue. I am mostly a still photographer and want to move to video. And canon 5d mark iv /v( if they release it soon) was on my wish-list. I love the canon colour and the variety of lens it provide.

But now with the announcement of X T4 i am really confused. Since x t4 is much cheaper then canon 5 d and i can use of fuji lens to x t4 as well. And it seem like a good video camera.

Please help me decide.

Turn off for the X-T4 for me is it uses the same sensor and processor as X-T3. It's still a good camera tho but it's not really a "new" camera in terms of image quality.

I am starting a videography career and I would like your opinion of the best camera set (Camera + Lenses at least) to achieve the best results for low budget commercials (ads) and social media content (mainly interview, product unboxing or short movies). My budget is preferably around Preferably around $2000. Please give me any and all advice you have in regards to the best equipment that is affordable but professional.

Used GH5 mark I. If you’re just beginning you don’t need the latest models. OG GH5 will suit you fine. I used it professionally from the day it released in 2017 until February of last year. Served me very well. Spend as little as possible on a decent camera and try and put the rest of that money towards lenses because that will last you far longer in the system. I don’t understand why there are people here who are recommending you shell your entire budget out on a camera.

r/fujifilm on Reddit: Thinking about switching from Canon EOS R to Fujifilm X-T5
April 1, 2024 -

I am not a professional photographer, I consider myself more of a hobbyist, although I have done some portrait work, I mainly take landscapes and portraits.

I previously had a Canon M50 and I really liked its size, weight and versatility but not its image quality. I bought a second-hand EOS R+RF24-105 f4 and an RF100-400 f/5.6-8. I love the image quality and colors in landscapes, but not so much in skin.

But I got to a point where the weight of all the equipment has caused me to not want to take photos.

So, TL;DR... I'm thinking about switching to Fujifilm because of its size, weight and versatility, any advice, lens recommendations (Fuji or 3rd party) for street, landscape and portrait has a hobby, or just any comments? :)

I’m not a professional yet but would like to get into more professional work eventually. I love environmental portraits, documentary style portraits, landscape, food and will probably do a couple events when I have the chance. So i’m looking for the overall best option. I know the xt5 has more mp and ibs but the r8 is a full frame and i’m not sure how much that make a difference. If the price is not the main issue, which one should I go for? Sorry I know i’m not really specific and it may be an annoying broad “which one is better for everything” type of question

October 20, 2021 - The X-T4 is smaller, lighter, has great lenses at semi-sensible pricing compared to Canon. It has dials to set ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation - and I just love the look and feel.
