I can't do port forwarding because my provider doesn't allow for port forwarding by masking my IP. I payed for the subscription of forge, but after a couple of months, our group hates it because it keeps deleting features from the character sheets before every session (we don't know why there is this bug). Is there a free server hosting option that works well with foundry?

Just a heads up - you can still self host without port forwarding. There are several services that you can use to get around that. I personally use a Cloud Flare tunnel. It's free for a dev account, although you do have to have a credit card on file. You have to install the service on your PC, then you're good to go. I've used them for over s year without issue. I just open s command prompt and start the service, get the URL (the free dev tier means you get a randomized url every time although if you have your own domain you can connect it), and paste it to discord for my group. They join like normal and everything works great. Close it once we're done and that's that. I mean it does have downsides compared to a hosted solution - primarily that players don't have access except when you're running foundry and the tunnel is up.

I use Pterodactyl, a game server manager which runs them in Docker. If there's an egg (container) already out there for the game you want to host, it's quite nice. EDIT: It also has a nice web UI and an account system you can use to give other people access to manage a specific game server, and a scheduling system to run tasks like backups or scheduled reboots. My group (8 regulars, 4-5 that float in and out occasionally) play the same types of games. At the moment, I'm hosting 2 Palworld servers and 3 Enshrouded servers on a Beelink SER5 Pro. It has a Ryzen 7 5800H and came with 16GB/500GB, but I upgraded it out of the box to 64GB/2x2TB. I installed Proxmox as the hypervisor and have several VMs running on it. At the moment it has two Windows 2022 servers (one is the game host, the other runs Blue Iris for my cameras), two instances of Home Assistant, and two Windows 11 VMs for dev/testing (only running as needed). I bought a second SER5 Max and mirrored the setup as a backup. The performance on everything has been great, and even with 5-6 of us in Palworld the little box handles it like a champ. I use Amp to manage the game servers, which allows me to spin up new servers easily and in minutes. These mini PCs have been great little workhorses and the cost of each was pretty close to what you're looking to spend (less for the PC as is, a bit more with the upgraded RAM). If it were me, I’d just setup tailscale and be done with it. Any other recommendation is going to be dependent on the game in question. It’s also generally a bad idea to directly expose services to the web, it’s much more secure to proxy the traffic inwards. Tailscale would let you all play securely, and it’s as simple as signing in. You can also connect a docker container to your tailnet directly, so you could go that route and then all 3 of you would have identical client configs.
