I use Philips Hue Led Strip lights high up on the wall behind me and a pair of Philips Hue play bars vertically behind my monitors. And a Mathmos Vinyl lava lamp. Looks nice.

Get Phillips Hue lights in there. Then with app you can dim to whatever level you want, and depending if you get color bulbs, whatever RGB color. Plus...if your ceiling fan has more than one bulb, you can name them differently and turn them off/dim independently.
Edit: they are a bit pricey though, but cheaper than putting in all new lighting.
