We went to Gertrude last night and loved the place. A great atmosphere, friendly and highly engaged staff, creative and tasty dishes - the 5-course menu was simply excellent. A superb neighbourhood fine dining option without overdoing it.

October 17, 2024 - I’ve said this recently on a Reel but I’ll say it again here: fish balls are having a moment. Chefs across Amsterdam are whizzing fish and balling it up. That’s more than fine with me: let me be your receptacle. Gertrude’s balls were pillows and tasted like the interior of a dumpling.

The first one of the year! Naturally, terraces and restaurants were filled with people eager to enjoy the miracle. I wonder how many sick days were taken last Friday? Anyway.
