Besta Top Panel Glass for TV.. Any experience with this?
I have 4 Besta units, all about a month old. Installation is easy, you put double sided tape in each corner and lay the glass on. I haven’t had it long enough to experience any issues, but cats are jumping up there daily and I have a TV on the long one and plants & other objects with no issues with scratching yet. Hi y'all!
I was gifted this Ikea Besta TV stand in a dark brown color recently and it's in really good condition - no deep scratches or chipping of any sort - but I really wish it where a white. What would be the best method of converting it into white? Spray paint, roll paint, vinyl wrap, etc.
Ideally I want it to be a gloss white, but I fear getting a nice glass like gloss finish might be difficult, so wondering if I should just settle with a satin or matte finish.

That's not wood. It's a mixture of fiberboard, honeycomb polymer, and plastic. First, DO NOT attempt to sand that. Second, you're not going to be happy with any kind of paint solution. Third, I agree with the other comment, sell it and buy what you really want or just be happy with what you've got.

No, nothing to do.
If you download the assembly instructions for MOSJÖ you won’t see anything about a bracket for attaching the item to the wall, and there isn’t one included in the package.

This is because of IKEA's iconography in the minds of the public.
If you buy a locally made TV stand from George Utrecht Family Furniture down on Mill Road, and a child climbs on it and it falls over, you'd never dream of suing old George. You probably don't even know whose furniture that is.
The idea that furniture toppling was a dangerous threat wasn't really coming together, because it was 1000 worldwide accidents from furniture built by a thousand sellers, suits were rare, and no defendant ever had the marketing "punch" to get the message out.
Needless to say, with IKEA, lawyers and bereaved saw an opportunity to do some good. The bereaved were happy to trade away some settlement $, and IKEA was happy to participate. And IKEA got the word out.
Unfortunately, people misconstrued this message to think "only IKEA furniture needs to be anchored to the wall. No no! What Ikea says about anchoring furniture applies to all furniture.

I have a Besta which is a few years old, but never knew there was a glass top-panel for it. I saw it in store and it looked great.. but when you look at the reviews online, it's a bit scary:

The same one in a slightly smaller size has all terrible reviews, saying the glass shatters out of nowhere:

I imagine they're the same exact materials, just a different sized cut, which makes it so strange that one of them would be perfect and the other would be prone to shattering easily.
Does anyone have experience with these? ideally the larger sized one? Any issues?
And can these be installed relatively easily/quickly (the TV is already on the Besta; I would need to lift the TV while someone added the glass panel to the top of the besta, ideally something that can be done in about 20-30 seconds?)

I just bought besta second hand with the glass top. they used it as a entertainment center for at least 5 years. Its the long one with 2 frames put together. I know have a TV mounted on the wall above it though
