Google Fi review
This isn't a review, it's an anecdote. You live/work in an area that has better ATT coverage than T-mobile. Not very useful info for anyone else looking to change carriers. More on reddit.com

Is GoogleFi actually good?
Google Fi wireless works well in areas where T-mobile works and the absolute best for traveling abroad, data only sims are outstanding (plan dependent) Fi is best for consumers with at least one in the group that is tech savvy, customer support can be weak with endless email loops without resolution, no physical storefront Free phones likely come with a 24 month contract, if a phone dies or is lost, you can owe the full remaining costs, nothing is really free More on reddit.com

Considering switching to GoogleFi, can I get some honest experience with it?
I was a Fi customer for 4+ years. The basics work fine and if you never need any CS help or can fix stuff yourself, it's one of the cheapest and best options. If you ever need ANY help, even something as apparently clear cut as getting service for a device you're paying insurance for, good fucking luck. Their CS is SO BAD. I switched to T Mobile for this reason, and they even made that process surprisingly awful and slow. I'd recommend you steer clear and go with a service where you can get support if things don't work as expected. More on reddit.com

Having second thoughts about Google Fi
Just try it and see how you like it, you never hear from the millions of satisfied customers on Reddit, just the small minority that has issues. Fi support is bad sometimes, but the few times I've had a problem, they were able to take care of it. More on reddit.com

What networks does Google Fi Wireless use?

Google Fi Wireless uses T-Mobile's network to provide its base coverage and an extended "network of networks" that includes US Cellular to provide further coverage for certain phones.

If your phone is compatible, it will switch between network providers automatically depending on which service will provide the best coverage in your area. This is only available for phones "Designed for Fi," however, which includes Google Pixel phones as well as many Android models.

r/GoogleFi on Reddit: How to check Google Fi coverage before buying?
December 13, 2022 -

Yes, I know Google Fi has a coverage map. Coverage maps lie. The map looks only granular at the zip code level.
I talked to customer service and they are 100% confident I will have great coverage. I have trouble believing them unless they have sent someone to my house.

Verizon and AT&T before them said they have good coverage at my house. They don't.

Signing up my family and porting a bunch of numbers before I can find this out seems like a major pain.

Google Fi's 5G coverage expanding over the coming months, especially in these 8 states
October 22, 2021 - Our nationwide 5G network is expanding over the coming months to more areas across the US, with increased coverage in rural areas where 5G coverage has traditionally been low. As an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), this boost is due to and is in line with partner carrier expansions. Google Fi historically leverages T-Mobile and Sprint, as well as US Cellular, but that’s now technically down to two with the merger.

Google Fi Wireless: Everything You Need To Know - December 2025
2 weeks ago - T-Mobile generally has good coverage, however since Google Fi Wireless is an MVNO, it doesn’t get the same speeds as a regular T-Mobile phone. The way these networks work is that T-Mobile Postpaid customers will get the priority on each tower. Followed by T-Mobile’s prepaid customers (that’s T-Mobile Prepaid and Metro by T-Mobile).
