I have a digital photo that meets the photo requirements (white background, correct head placement, etc). I'm wondering if it would be sufficient to get the photo printed 6-at-a-time on a 4x6 print at Walmart, or if the resolution/quality wouldn't be good enough. I know it has to be 300dpi but can't find info on what resolution Walmart uses for 4x6 prints.
If not, any suggestions for places that would produce a photo with acceptable quality? (CVS? Staples?)

Hi! Coming to this thread a bit late, but when printing did you find a workaround for the templates that they offer? On their site, even if you chose to tile your images, nowhere does it give you the option to specifically set the measurements of the grid, so even though my photo is 2x2”, it gets distorted by the templates to fill up the space. It seems impossible to get it exactly and I can’t figure it out Edit: Or maybe you used a secondary program to pre-make and set your photos together on a 4x6 canvas, which you then uploaded?

I was super annoyed places charge anywhere from $15-20 for a passport photo when 4x6 prints are less than 50 cents a print. To DIY it yourself, have a friend take your photo on a light background without shadows. You can upload the JPG photo to the state gov website and it'll crop it to appropriate 2x2 dimensions: https://tsg.phototool.state.gov/photo, then paste it into a free photo grid: https://www.passportgrid.com/ template which will print 6 copies. I'm planning on printing at Walgreens because they have a 50% off coupon running currently, but you could print it at CVS, Walmart, or anywhere they do same day photo. Much cheaper than paying $15+ for a photo!!
UPDATE: 6/11/24 - my passport got approved :)

You better make damn sure the app makes the photo fit exactly the way it should because the passport office is extremely strict about the size of the photos. I tried using one of these apps with my kids passport photos and they denied both of them because it was like a millimeter too big. We wound up having to make a whole new appointment and come back after going to Walgreens for photos.
