Don’t get tempted by the price. I avoid laptops with Intel Atom & Celeron CPUs like the plague. It also has 4GB of RAM to make it worse. It will run basic tasks at an acceptable level after a fresh Windows install, but will get slower by time due to its CPU. That amount of RAM will make it worse especially when having a browser with a few tabs open along with another application open. I wouldn’t consider anything less than a Core i3, 8GB RAM & 256GB as the bare minimum nowadays. Answer from cli_aqu on reddit.com

I need a laptop for work to use as a network computer. Since I'm having to buy it, I am considering the HP 14 since it's cheap. I'll just be using it remote in using Microsoft Remote Desktop. Task will primarily be web browsing, email. Is it powerful enough to do this? Screen lag etc. Any other suggestions? Another consideration is the laptop weight. I don't want to lug around something heavy. Thank you!

I'd get something with a 1080p screen at least. 1366x768 really shouldn't exist anymore.

I have an HP 14 that I bought at Walmart for $180 (before tax), and it had absolutely no business getting me all the way through nursing school. I just needed a windows laptop to run a single program for school. And yet, here I am nearing finals, having done 99.8% of school on this here shiddy laptop that I'm typing on. Don't know what you ended up getting, but if someone from the future sees this, I wouldn't recomend this laptop if you can get something better. But if you have no option and generally low expectations, you should be fine. Cons: low storage - can barely keep a few applications locally; video calls or video proctoring software for exams are a bit slow Pros: battery is great; I can run multiple windows, each with multiple tabs, several running youtube background music/sounds just fine. It is not my only computer, so I can default to my Chromebook, Linux, or Windows PC if need be. But it gets the job done 10x better than the old dual-core 14's. Tried one once, like 10 years ago, and it was unusable.
