For more information, it had stopped working via direct connection a while ago. I was hoping it was just because I was doing it on a mobile app and not on my PC, but it still is not connected to anything. I'd like to not have to dig through the house to find where the printer cable ended up, but if this is a known issue that has no resolution I will do it.

No, that photo is not edited. All I did was throw it into a scanner app to show you, the viewer, what was up.

I'm not super tech savvy, and I don't usually work with printers so this is out of my range of knowledge.

These printers are already discontinued. They are the exact same printer. They are just sold in different retailers. The HP Envy Pro 6455 model would be found at places like HP.com Store and Best Buy. The HP Envy Pro , 6458e and 6452e printer would found in other retailers. None of them are locked down into instant ink only. More on reddit.com

As someone who has sold these types of printers I would go with none of them. This may be my economical thinking, but let me explain why. All of these printers use a two cartridge system (typically ink carts in the HP 60 range). These cartridges are a waste of money. The black cartridges barely have any ink in them, and the color cartridges have three colors in them, meaning that as soon as one of those colors runs out, you have to chuck the other two and get new cartridges. It's a waste of money. Even the third party alternatives are pricy. I don't know why but that seems to be a thing for cartridges with print head. My recommendation? If you're looking for quality pictures get a Canon Pixma. And make sure that it isn't using two cartridges. Plus Canon's are pretty accepting of third party cartridges. Not to mention they're a camera company, so they know a thing or two about photos. I personally have a Canon Pixma TS6020. It accepts third party cartridges without a problem and it prints out great photos, so I can vouch for the quality.
