HP Certified Refurbished laptops can be a good deal. Most of these manufacturer refurbished units are like new and are a good deal despite the limited 90 day warranty. HP supposedly replaced defective/damaged parts in these units with new ones. However, when I worked at Frys Electronics, I saw many certified refurbished computers with serious issues, although none with outward damage. Now, I have seen many third party refurbished computers which aren’t a good deal since they are typically older, used or corporate leases that have been merely reimaged with Windows 10. Most of the these are visibly used, often damaged and should be recycled rather than sold. I have seen Spectres sold from both categories. The certified models come in a brown box with the hp logo on the side and include an Active Pen. Those units’ condition are usually perfect, with no visible signs of use. The third party Spectres don’t come in a HP box (the box often says Microsoft Authorized Refurbished). And no pen and in fair condition. I would not trust a third party refurbished Spectre. I have also seen salesmen mischaracterize third party refurbished as certified refurbished, which is wrong. Check for an HP logo on the box. If it does, you do have a 90 day warranty through HP. yes. Especially if you aim for something business class. My experience with new consumer class laptops is that they never last too much longer than the warranty if you are the type to actually run around with your laptop everywhere. Business class laptops are usually built to last - your probooks, elitebooks, thinkpads. What I've also found is the used market is pretty much focused on specs - meaning you can get some incredible builds for cheap. Many business class laptops are spill proof with drain holes, designed to withstand repeated falls, and often have cool little accessibility features. More on reddit.com

Hello, yes I have purchased a few refurbished laptops and for the most part they have performed as expected one thing I caution is when you are looking for a refurbished laptop, phone, desktop tablets ect is to see who did the refurbishing such as 3rd party or manufacturer obviously manufacturers are going to restore it to "like new" condition hopefully but typically they are good machines they may have blemishes or scratches but I have found them to be a good option if you are looking for a new device and hope to save a few dollars hope this helps
