Malm 4-drawer dresser, Birch/Oak: Please tell me it isn’t gone forever
I almost drove to another state for it but they brought about a dozen units to my local IKEA. I had signed up for the notification, picked them up day off, in the middle of moving. This was last July. Never saw them again. I read that a bunch of children died from the dresser falling on them, that's why they recalled it. May 28, 2021Help with storklinta 4 drawer dresser
Did you end up figuring this out? I have the same dresser and I’m having the same issue. I even signed up for to have someone come and assemble it using IKEA’s recommended assembly company TaskRabbit and the “tasker” who was assigned to assemble it couldn’t figure this out either. He said they’re supposed to be the same sizes and that IKEA must have incorrect parts, which seemed to make sense because (just like you’re experience) he was also able to install the top 2 drawers. I contacted IKEA via live chat and when I sent them pictures (the ones in the pic I attached here) that the tasker took and sent to me, the live chat assistant asked me to identify the spare parts number from the manual. I looked through the manual and couldn’t find a clear answer and also looked a bunch online and this post is the first similar thing I’ve found after spending too much time finding nothing. I was not a part of the assembly and I have never built a dresser or any complicated furniture like IKEA bc I’m not savvy with this kind of thing whatsoever (hence, why I decided to get it assembled). Now I just feel so lost/stupid and am beyond confused what to do at this point except go into the store which i was hoping to avoid. It’s the perfect dresser. I’ve been trying to purchase one for months, but every time I try the availability is blink-and-you miss it. The sleek, clean look of the Malm collection is what makes Ikea Ikea - and there’s simply no way I can afford similar items that are 4, 5, even 6 times the price. Is anyone else feeling blue about the current state of Ikea’s products, and just how difficult it has become to style a modern living space on a fairly humble budget? Is there another store/website out there people could recommend?
